Will a Stump Bucket damage my FEL?

I think you would be happy with a stump bucket. I have a 3-tooth bucket made out of 3/8" steel plate and it has served me very well. I use it to cut all the perimeter roots, and then use the scoop to lift it up and out. I position it almost vertical, about 75 degrees, and then use the weight of...

How many acres do you own?

25 acres on a river in southern Maine, about 5 miles inland from the Atlantic coast. Typical lot size in my area is about 5-50 acres. No neighbors nearby and we enjoy the quiet privacy.

Anyone else have one of these attachments?

The rain finally stopped after a few weeks of very wet weather. Used it to remove moss in part of the lawn today and will over-seed it tomorrow. It leaves the same finish as a garden rake. Did a quick pass on the driveway too.

Anyone else have one of these attachments?

I bought this Pine Needle Rake from Everything Attachments a couple years back thinking I could find some use for it. Well, I use it all the time. It's less aggressive than my York Rake so I can use it on my lawn to collect branches and leaves. I keep my gravel driveway in shape in-between box...

Which Models are Built by Mahindra vs TYM?

I would agree with your statement about some of the tractors being crudely built. In my experience, that reputation was well deserved from several older generation/models that just weren't great and have been worked out of the lineup. Compare the new Mahindra's against a Kubota or Deere for FEL...

Buying Stump Bucket Instead of Backhoe

I run a stump bucket on my 1626, which weighs out at about 3300 lbs with the attachment and my tractor handles it just fine. Here in Maine there are lots of surface roots and this bucket performs great. I looked at several different styles and ended up with this one due to the construction. It...

Well Water Has Suddenly Gone Brown

Sounds to me like sediment on the bottom of the well has risen up over time, as it does on some wells. Assuming the pump was set about 20' off the bottom, every time the pimp kicks on, it stirs up the sediment and causes the discoloration. You will need to raise the pump 10-15'. You may want to...

Spent the winter in Arizona and was anxious to come back to Maine and get ready for spring! Discontinued Sub Compact Mahindra

Over a year ago, I traded my model 2015 tractor (new in 2006) and I bought new model 1626. I loved my 2015 and it never failed me. Only real complaint was the quality of the powder coat paint on the loader. Tractor was great but I believe that came from Japan and the loader was made in Texas...

    Brought 57 cub home today

Brings back memories of my first tractor, a 50's-something Cub that looks very close to yours. The rear tires were not AG, but rather someone mounted some Tractor-Trailer tires and custom fitted chains. Front tires were simple ribbed tires. It had a a plow blade fixed on the front and the...

    50 Hour Service Costs Variations...

All great feed back. The second dealer said that they do NOT change the transmission fluid, rather top it off if all appears fine when they change/clean the filters. In looking at the manual, on the chart they provide, they say 300 hours, but else where, they say 50 hours. I'd certainly want...

Today, I called the dealer I bought my tractor from and asked about having my first 50 hour (actually 70 hour) service and they boastfully told me it was $1000 for the first service. I have to disagree. I'm able to change quickly between four different attachments, all from the comfort of my seat with the exception of open/close the arms. I set them all up on two 4x4 rails and drive up to them... connect/disconnect. Selection and price is much better too.

Comparison The Bitterness of Poor Quality Remains Long After the Sweetness of Low Price is Forgotten

Higher Price does not always mean Best Value. When I was looking for a new 26 HP CUT, I looked at both JD and Kubota, and IMHO, felt they were overpriced for what they offered in this range. I compared machine weight, lift capacities and features and decided to go another route. Just because...

In my opinion, Mahindra has made great strides in their product over the past few years. I recently traded a 10 year old Mahindra 2015 tractor for a new one in the 26 HP range. I loved my 20 HP Mahindra but was very disappointed in the paint quality of the loader (made by a third party in...

I have to chime in on the Mahindra as well. I just bought my second one and in terms of lift capacity for the FEL and 3 PT it is head and shoulders above the green or orange machines in the same HP category. My first Mahindra (new in 2006) had a well known paint issue as many of the early...

    Does HST Transmission Rob Horsepower??

One question I have is never brought up. All I ever read is that clutches can be troublesome for knees, but what about the need for your right foot to be constantly applying see-saw pressure to a treadle? I would have to think that can be just as painful to some instances.
