Thats the only explanation I would have, but that makes the battery like 15 years old. Pretty rare for a 70HP outdoor stored machine with 2,500 hours on it to be on the original factory battery. It’s still inexcusable to make the opening too small for the next guy.

The newer, road speed tractors I have will do 35 MPH. I couldn’t imagine a catastrophic tire failure at that speed pulling a 20 ton square baler. I try my best to keep after my tires. Of course, it’s difficult to keep all of them inside all year.

I always kinda found in my operation that the “sticky” bales were the ones with excessive moisture, or baled too early and the stems were still damp. When I did rounds, I used a 2-long prongs set up. Mush better stability and could be used to pick up 2 bales at once.

You just get a programmer to turn the emissions equipment back on. DPF’s can be replaced with a piece of straight pipe. I know someone who has a diesel ag tractor that this has had done to it.

As I’ve said before, they may continue to make the diesel trucks with DEF/DPF (and that sucks because it adds ~$10,000 to the cost of the truck), BUT at least the owner can legally electronically deactivate it if he so desires with no penalty, or physically remove the emissions crap altogether.

Vehicle emissions have been substantially cleaned up in between the period of your “Eldorado” example, but before the 2008 standards came about. My non-emissions 90’s and early 2000’s diesel trucks ran very clean and efficient compared to 70’s & 80’s diesels. Your sarcastic comments are untrue.

Does this model Kubota have a PCM (a computer box)? I had 2 different Kubotas that had PCMs that went bad. Symptoms included constantly blown fuses and complete loss of certain electrical functions. PCM replacement was quoted at about $5,000 for one of my Kubotas.

Cut quality is better with 8’ twin. Over several years of cutting, having a 13% wider cut represents a lot of time saved. An 8’ twin semi mount should have less rear overhang and be more maneuverable. IMO, I’d buy a used 8’ twin, specifically a JD MX-8 with side shift feature. Awesome mowing...

I have no trouble on hills and I do some pretty steep ones. I mean you can feel the engine pull down a little, but nothing that bothered me or affected cut quality. Overall, I’m satisfied. I thought I’d miss my ZD-331-72, but I don’t all that much.

You need to tell us what you are cutting. Tall grass/light fields? You’d be ok. I ran a twin spindle MX-8’ behind an M-7040, but I was cutting 5 foot tall, thick grass. Also, I think you’ll need a loader with bucket or front weights to add weight & stability to the front axle.
