    Gooseneck or bumper pull?

Gooseneck is much better. I have a 40-foot gooseneck trailer for two cars and a 24-foot bumper pull for single car towing. The gooseneck is very stable, forgiving on load. More maneuverable for similar lengths.

Buying Advice  John Deere 3039R transmission choice

I'm trading in my 1026R and implements for a John Deere 3 Family tractor and implements and am thinking 3039R open station (or possibly 3046R). (I should have read the advice of jeff9366 about buying enough tractor, but I got six years of work and experience out of the 1026R and now I get to...

Box Scraper  Best attachments for smoothing rutted lawn

A small area of our lawn, maybe 30x30 feet, was torn up by a dump truck that got stuck during the rainy season. A backhoe was used to pull it out. Deep ruts, tall grass. Often it's soft there. We're on the edge of a wetlands area. What are the best attachments and techniques? My thought is to...

Any Tractor Guys Into Sports Cars Too?

I got to go for a ride in this bad boy, not exactly a car but very sporty. That's me sitting in a made-up jump seat of a P-51 Mustang. I always admired the guys who fought in WWII and flew these planes and had read a lot about it. It was so exciting taxiing out, I think tears came to my eyes...

Any Tractor Guys Into Sports Cars Too?

I drove a 2005 Ford GT at Ford's Proving Grounds back in fall 2004. Fantastic car! I envy you! Yes, these cars are driven regularly on the race track and i highly recommend this activity. 1956 Lotus Eleven climbing the hill at Laguna Seca toward the Corkscrew, next to an incredibly valuable...

Any Tractor Guys Into Sports Cars Too?

By sports cars, we mean car-guy cars. So muscle cars, old pickups, new cars, old cars are very much of interest. And some of us have made our wishes come true by going out and snagging some of these old cars. Below is our 1962 Lotus 23B. I tried to plow a field near Sonoma, California, with it...

    Flail Mower  Brush Removal Strategy

Hi Gang! I have a meadow of about four acres surrounded by wooded wetlands, some of which is edged with thorny bushes I would like to eliminate. I'm fairly certain this is some sort of invasive alien plant, possibly multiflora rose. I want to get rid of this and replace it with native bushes...

Any Tractor Guys Into Sports Cars Too?

Here's mine. It's great for cruising around the country -- on serpentine racetracks. All agricultural work done with this machine has been purely by accident! Plowing and digging ditches is NOT what you want to do in this.

    Backhoe  Planting trees

I'm trying to decide the best strategy for planting trees and bushes. We have about five acres of grass and another 30 of wooded wetlands and I'm planning a lot of planting this spring (and in the years to come). I like the idea of a backhoe or possibly an auger to drill holes for planting trees...

Dirt Moving  Ditches and swales for drainage

What's the best attachment for fixing drainage problems? Several areas on our property could use a slight ditch or swale to channel water down hill rather than into places where it's not wanted (like in our barn basement). I have a box blade and the front-end loader. I do not have any other...

    New John Deere 1026R owner

We bought an old farm house a year and a half ago and this past summer I picked up a John Deere 1026R with some attachments. I'm having the time of my life with this thing. Nothing like having a piece of equipment that's fun to use.
