    PT 1430 mower

Working with Terry I have dismantled the PTO valve. I have electrical power at the valve but no magnetic field is present so off the valve went to Terry for diagnosis and I assume repair or replacement.

    PT 1430 mower

Got my mower out to start spring mowing. Changed the blades and mower will not run. Checked the PTO switch and it seems to be fine. So how can I see if the pump is working as it should? Or what else can be the problem.

    Mowing  PTO won't start mower

I mowed last week and now the PTO won't start the mower. Any hints on where to start looking for the failure?

    Bleeding hydraulic line

I can't seem to find my PT manual and I am in the process of servicing my 1430. I have done the lube, oil and filters but I have forgotten where to connect the bleed hose for the hydraulics. I know I need to connect the hose and then cycle the engine (without start) until the oil flows. The...

    Parking outdoors

I have always parked my PT in the barn but am now considering the purchase of another antique truck. For those who park their PT outdoors, what have you noticed in damage from the elements?

    Thumb for mini hoe

Attached are pictures of a thumb that I had made for my hoe. I did not want one welded to the hoe so I designed one that bolts on and folds back out of the way without removing. So far tests have been successful but I may want to later make a longer thumb but that should be easy since it is...

    New PT trailer

Had a new trailer built to help with some of the chores. It is the same width as the PT so it will follow faithfully behind. The bed is 6' long and 54" wide. It is also street legal so can be towed to the rock and other supply yards as well as to the dump. Bob

    Owners map

Not sure who is keeping the map? My recollection is Pajoube, but I may be wrong. In any event, I should soon be able to put a star on the map. I sent a check in yesterday for a 1430 and several other items including 4 in 1, brush cutter, mini hoe, forks, PHD and boom. Now the waiting begins.

    Trip to Tazewell

I have scheduled a trip to Tazewell for January 24 and hope that I can report that I have made a purchase. I'm not looking for encouragement but advice on what I should be looking for and perhaps what I should convey to the management of PT about what I am reading on this forum. I hope to be...

tooth bar for 4 in 1

Is it practical to have an add on tooth bar or individual PT style teeth on a 4 in 1 bucket? I am concerned that with only a 4 in 1 bucket that I will not have the digging capability in hard soil. Does anyone have the added teeth for the 4 in 1, is it necessary or should I also consider the...

    Building a road

I like to plan everything far in advance of the time when I start a project. My plan is to purchase a PT so I am putting this post here rather than in the project forum as I really want input specifically from PT users. The PT will be used primarily in the rear 2 acres of my property but the...

    Congratulations to all PT Owners

For the last several months I have been reading postings under the PT banner as well as those of Green, Blue, Orange and other colors. My intent is to decide which machine I will purchase to maintain and complete my retirement property. While all of the forums have interesting information...

    Degrees to Percent conversion

If you have been as confused as me when considering slope mowing - perhaps the attached chart will be of some help when considering how to proceed with the purchase of a machine that will mow the slopes as well as do all of the other chores. There are two charts, one converts from percent to...

    425 vs 1430, weight issues

I am still a very confused person trying to decide on a tractor. I'm pretty well sold on the PT because of the many things that it can do that I find will require some exotic combination of large and expensive implements of green, blue, orange or other such as ballast for FEL work and front...

    resale of implements

When I order my 425 I am thinking of buying a few attachments that I will have use for only for a time until I get the retirement home site where we want it. Has anyone had experience with resale of items no longer needed such as trencher, cement mixer and post hole digger which I sure will use...

    choosing a tractor

I am considering a TC24 or 29 DA to work on our retirement property. 2.5 acres with 1.5 of hilly (20 degree slopes) fields, two creeks and lots of landscaping needs. I would be considering a fel, brush mower and post hole unit. My biggest concern is cutting brush on the slopes. Can anyone advise...

    PT 425

I have decided that the Model 425 would be the machine of choice if the final decision is PT; however, I am still looking at other options for various reasons. My one plus acre of open field is on a 20% slope and I need a machine that will mow this area. I am concerned about the power and...

    PT 422 or 425

I have never had a tractor and I am considering purchase of either of the above. My intended use is brush mowing a 1+ acre area, post hole digging, leveling for terraced garden and general yard cleanup. We have recently purchased a retirement 3 acre property and have a number of chores to do...
