    Rock Puller

Our place is on the top of a ridge line and we have lots of sandstone on the surface that can't be easily dislodged. Sometimes I think this place grows rocks. I bought a poorly designed (in my opinion) stump bucket to use for picking rocks. It was only $250 and looked like it would work for...

    BOOM POLE PICS

We set one of the 500-gallon tanks on a pallet yesterday with the new boom pole so we can prep and paint it. Worked like a charm and the extra 8' of reach will enable us to set the tanks in their 11' tall stands.

    Snake identification

This one ate 18 3-day-old guineas last night. I'm guessing rat snake but I'm no snake expert. It was 5'4" long and about as big around as my wrist. Anyone know what it was? His post-meal girth prevented his escape through a small crack under the coop door. I was wearing boxer shorts, a wife...

    I hate thieves!!!

In my seemingly endless attempt to keep the local meth addicts and various assorted white trash from stealing any more of my gear I am camouflaging all of my attachments as time permits. I moved them well into the wood line so they are hard to see from the road (dead end gravel road 1+ miles...

Let's see your modified box blades!

Deezler, Those weights may also come in handy with your post hole digger. Our soil is rocky and in the summer when it is very hard and dry I use 180-lbs of weights and it really helps the auger get a bite and dig.

Let's see your modified box blades!

Wanted a little extra weight so I added some railroad rail. I'm pleased with the results and the 2" receiver is handy for moving trailers around.

    Anybody built a shooting range?

I also used rebar to anchor the ties together. While I was at it I laid these rigid perforated steel straps across the corners between every second or third course of the railroad ties. Everything is holding up well. I bought the straps at Tractor Supply Company. Good luck.

    Giant Rock

These 15 Amp, 120 Volt Professional Breaker Hammers from Harbor Freight get mixed reviews. We have used and abused ours breaking sandstone while building our fence. In some spots where it was 100' + of solid rock on the surface we even used it to drill pilot holes for T-Posts. It worked fine...

    Anybody built a shooting range?

These photos are about midway through my build. I built a railroad tie corral and put in several blue plastic 55-gallon drums and filled them with topsoil. I figured having the dirt in drums would prevent it from migrating. What is not shown is that I then filled the entire thing with topsoil...

    ford 9n

I have a magnificent 1943 2N. It gets used a lot within its capabilities. We have lots of trees and this narrow little tractor with a 5' brush hog makes a great mower in the woods. I use it to unroll fence and carry fencing supplies. It is handy for driveway maintenance with a 7' angle blade...

We just used it to unroll 450' of fence and thought to take pictures. This thing is a back saver.

Post Hole Digger for 30+HP PTO Tractor

Martin, There is a thread on here entitled "Are all post hole augers created equal?" It has some good info. Good luck with the 4035. I don't know how far you are from me but for that small project you may borrow my PHD with weight kit for a couple of weeks if you wish. I only have a 9" auger...

Request Advise In Selecting Pallet Forks

I'd appreciate some help in determining what size pallet forks to buy for general small hobby farm use. I want to buy a set of quick attach pallet forks for use on a Mahindra 4035 HST tractor. I occasionally receive products on "standard" pallets. I've been having the pallets placed in the...

Are all post hole augers created equal?

I bought the County Line PHD with a 9" auger and have had no problems using it in my extremely rocky soil. Granted it is sandstone but mine will dig to China. I've dug dozens of holes and have yet to break a shear bolt. A couple of the photos show it with the optional weight kit (four 45...

    Chains and Binder Storage

We expanded the width of the deck out to the width of the fender and welded on a box for straps, chains, boomers, jacks, etc. The photo of the other side of the trailer where the crane is mounted better depicts how the deck was expanded. It also shows an attachment point on the front of the...

Bucket Buddy instead of Weld on Hooks

Thanks for the ideas. I had the dealer reinforce the entire 72" of the bucket top and then weld on three 2" receivers and four weld-on hooks. Took delivery of the tractor yesterday and their work looks good.

    Need Fencing Advice

I am in the process of installing 48" tall goat/sheep woven wire fencing with one strand of barbed wire on the top. I've just about finished fencing the two sides of the property which were previously unfenced. The other two sides of the property have good, properly installed 5-strand barbed...

    Tow Bar

I bought one of these cheap Tri-Ball trailer hitch things with the hook at Northern Tool. I have not used the hook for anything substantial and don't think I'd trust it for any heavy use. The grab hook attached to the drawbar is much more useful. I think the one below with a clevis would be...

    Tow Bar

I welded a 2" receiver under this old drawbar. The receiver enables me to use all sorts of stuff including a clevis, hitch balls, hooks, a pintle hitch, etc. or I just use the grab hook or clevis attached directly to the drawbar as shown in the photo. I drag trailers and skid logs with this setup.
