When I bought my land 20 years ago I knew I was going to need a tractor to help me manage it. While I'm not a heavy user, I do need it on occasion. I bought it used with several nice implements but it had 13.6 x 16 turf tires on it. While not ideal for my purposes, they have managed to last me...

Experienced tractor men at church this morning told me that it was probably a bad thermostat and to just take it out and NOT replace it. Reason being that down here in Texas, it rarely gets cold enough to need to reduce flow from radiator to engine to accelerate heating up the engine to...
Thank you. I changed the oil/filter but I only replaced hydraulic fluid that was lost when I took off the lift arm for seal repair. I will see how much radiator fluid was lost after the first overheating but I don't think it was very much. I don't see any other leaks. I don't have a temp gun.
Just put a repaired front end loader arm (leaking seal) back on tractor. Added hydraulic fluid to replace leak losses. New oil and oil filter. Level shows perfect on dip stick.
Shred for one hour this morning and high temp light comes on. Stop engine and wait an hour. Went to replace...
OK, behind the 8 ball here because (1) the tractor is 100 miles away and (2) I'm pretty "new" to this old tractor. However, I thought I'd chase a wild goose and ask for some help here.
My sons were up on our place and my oldest son decided to use the tractor for the first time, shredding some...
After a recent addition to some land I bought, the former owner left a JD 2150 tractor there and basically said "it's yours". I spent a few hundred bucks and had a tractor mechanic bring it up to snuff. As stupid as it sounds, I CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO RAISE THE "HOOD" ON THIS SUCKER! I...
I had access to a JD 2150 tractor this weekend on my place to do some shredding. I noticed that the cotter pin that was holding the main hitch pin along with the piece that allows for the chain adjustment was not in very well. I tried to move it but couldn't. At some point, it gave way and...
OK, so this has been a great tractor since 1999. However, it seem to get progressively harder to operate the three point lift, especially when my shredder is attached (heavy). The lift lever is super stiff and not smooth at all. The front end loader lift works very well though.
Is there...
Worked like a champ for 5 hours pulling a 15 foot bat wing. Right as I was finishing up, the red "warning light" started flashing. I stopped, took it out of gear and after that, the hydraulics just quit. Couldn't get it to go into any gear. Steering and front end loader controls frozen...
I had been having trouble with my tractor overheating after 45 minutes to an hour of shredding. I recently flushed the radiator and put a new belt on the tractor. Today, after about an hour of shredding, I stopped to clean the radiator screen as it often gets full of seeds and such. This...
I have seen a number of posts in past years on Kubota's elevated intake. They want $250 or more for this simple piece of pipe. I could easily build a system to get the air intake out of the dust/dirt cloud kicked up by the front right wheel (a super stupid design in the first place), but I...
Unbelievably, NH doesn't offer the polished rod in the steering cylinder by itself. You have to buy the entire steering cylinder for a smooth $400. I can't believe there's not an alternative (e.g. straighten the polished rod?). Anyone had any experience with this? Anyone know a cheap place...
On a post earlier today I asked about what I might need to pull an 8' shredder. Thanks for the replies. Here's my dilemma, for which there is certainly an answer for someone with an unlimited budget. Problem is, that ain't me!
Two years ago I bought a used NH 1925 tractor (33 HP/29 at the...
I am looking at a JD 5103 tractor with 43 horses at the PTO. I need to pull an 8' shredder over gently rolling, sandy land. No three inch trunks to chop, just heavy "weeds". Will this JD 2WD tractor easily handle a 3 pt, 8' shredder or do I need to jump to a 5203? Also, any advice on the...
I have a New Holland 1925 tractor. I bought it used and it came with turf tires. While they have been "OK" for use on my very sandy soil, they do slip a lot. I began looking for some new tires and rims and found a new set of "take off" R4 tires that will fit on my tractor. However, they are...
I guess I'd just like to vent with you folks a little, and also ask if all tractor manufacturers are like NH in that they design their tractors such that you have to buy different wheels for turf and ag tires? I bought my first (and only) tractor used a few years ago (a NH 1925) and it had turf...
Three weeks ago I did some shredding at my place and parked the 1925 back in the barn, turned off the key and went home. Last weekend I went to fire it up and there was nothing - no glow plug light, no sound like it was trying to start, nothing. I thought that maybe I'd left the lights on or...
I have a NH 1925 tractor. My normal routine is to start the tractor and let it idle for 5-10 minutes before use. The last two times I've started off shredding with the tractor, when I rev it to 540 rpm and start to shred, the engine automatically drops off 540 to a lesser idle speed. I push it...
I have a NH 1925 running a 5 foot Rhino shredder. The other day I shredded in a heavily vegetated drainage area on my place and to get down to the bottom of the area and shred the sides of the ditch, I had to raise the shredder to almost a "transport" position, otherwise it would have drug...
Pat\'s Easy Change System
I think I know the answer to the question I'm about to ask [and that is, "Go measure your equipment before you order!], but I thought I'd post the question just in case someone out there has "been there, done that."
And the question is, "Will Pat's easy change system...
I am a true rookie at the world of tractors and general farm equipment, but I'm on the learning curve. I have recently purchased a NH 1925 and assorted equipment. I'd like to buy a middle buster to lay some shallow ditches (for water pipe) and to break up the soil along a sand road so I can...
As the time to build a house on my 35 acres is upon me, the need to buy a tractor (and learn to use it!) finally arrived. After keeping my eyes open for a year or so, I found a used package and bought it. While it's too late to go back now (and I've spent my first four hours with it and had a...
