I hooked a charger up and it said it was at 80%. I know the battery is only a little more than 1 year and should be fine, i hooked the charger up and it finished in 10 minutes. I will reconnect and the try it again just to eliminate that as a potential issue.

OK... chatted with a massey dealer and he confirmed all 3 wires the same type connecter go to the same terminal. He's thinking the starter is bad, so i will send it back. Maybe i will mount it one more time and try, but you know they say the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over...

Flywheel teeth all look consistent. There is a bevel on on edge, i assume to let the starter gear mesh... none look broken.

Teeth look the same... 13 0n both the. old and new. Tooth height width all look to be the same. The only difference i can find is that it looks like the new one might be moving 1/16 an in. further out than the old one but i cant see how that would make a difference?

Ok, sorry had company so i couldn't get back to the tractor. I took the starter off and remounted. Tried it and it grinded. Tried again and it started. NOw every other try either startes or grinds. Going to remover it and count teeth. Also will look the flywheeel over.

comparing the two is on my agenda for today. counting teeth is a good idea. Likely i will just send it back and order one for someplace else. I don't remember having this issue that last time i replaced it 2 years ago...

Ok... drained the tank and will leave the switch on the fuel filter open and then loosed the connector to the injectors and hope that will bleed the fuel back to the filter. i will look for bleeder valves on the injectors and fuel pump and open those too. Then refill the tank with gas... i mean...

OK Thanks. Not sure there are bleeders for the injectors. I was just going to loosen the connector to the injectors and hope the gas will drain back through the pump and out the filter. The i would follow instructions to bleed air out of the lines... and pray!

Sounds like a low battery... that buzzy clicking you get when trying to start no in neutral.... But the battery is new. It's intermittant. Sometimes starts fine, other times it won't start for days. I guessing a switch? probably the same one that causes the buzzy noise when not in neutral? Or...
