Shortening Rod on Hydraulic Top Link

I might be able to bore a second set of holes on the top link of the box blade, good idea. I'll need to look at that.

Shortening Rod on Hydraulic Top Link

Yes, I would plan on a good bevel. Thank you for the pointers. I figured getting things perfectly aligned in this scenario is not as important since its not exactly a precise fit here, unlike a loader lift piston or something like that.

Shortening Rod on Hydraulic Top Link

Yes, the tractor has 3 holes, but I still cant quite get the angle that I am looking for. I purchased a link from Agristore that was supposedly matched to the tractor and matched the original toplink. It is a bit longer, and that little bit makes a difference. When the box blade is tilted...

Shortening Rod on Hydraulic Top Link

Good Morning, I have a hydraulic top link on my deere 5400. It is similar to what is shown here, but there is about 2-3 more inches of space between the end of the cylinder and the eye on the rod end. I would like it to be about 1.5-2" shorter so I can get a more aggressive angle with my box...

    'new' 1215 tractor, charging question

Hi, I just picked up a Ford 1215 HST 4x4 as a lawn tractor on my rough lawn. It came with a 914 48"MMM. My old 310-8 diesel converted wheel horse has been pretty beat up, and I am looking for something stronger. The tractor is great, has been maintained with all records of fluid changes...

    NAA High RPM Stumble

I am helping my dad fix up his NAA. It was 'restored' by some jackarse who basically messed up everything he touched. After fixing about a dozen leaks, and various other problems, I am trying to get it running right. The engine is rebuilt, and seems very solid. It has a zenith carb that...

    NAA Rear end case swap

My dad has a 53 NAA that my grandfather bought new. It lived a life of work, and never really retired. It bushhogged 100 acres a year after my grandfather retired from farming, and did a lot of PTO pump duty in the sugarbush. My dad paid a local guy to fix it up, and I wish he had just brought...

Ford Industrial Steering Arm Ball joint

Hi, I have a 75 Ford 420 industrial with very sloppy steering. The Tie rod ends are both worn, but I have found replacement parts for these for a reasonable price. The joint that is the most worn is #2 is this diagram. It is probably ready to pop apart its so worn. To replace you have to...

Ford Industrial Starter kicking out too easily

My 75 ford 420 diesel is having a bit of an issue with the starter. When its cold out (below 35 or so) the starter kicks out too early. The tractor starts easily, but obviously needs to crank a bit more when it gets cold, and this is when the issue arises. As soon as it starts firing the starter...

    externally regulated alternator question

I have a 75 ford 420 industrial (i think). It appears to have the factory alternator with external regulator. It hasnt charged since I've owned it. I put a new aftermarket regulator in it first, but no change, charge light stays lit and voltmeter says no charge at all. I did some research on...

    my turbocharged ford 420 industrial

I bought this tractor a few weeks ago. Posted on here trying to figure out what model it is. Thanks to some knowledgable people on here i think it is a 1975 420. I have been sorting out all of its issues, and now that I got it working well and not leaking much of anything anymore I decided to...

    Ford 420 Fuel Sending unit

I am trying to get the gauges working on my 420 diesel. The fuel gauge moves up to full with the key on and stays there, if i unplug the sending unit, it drops to empty. I pulled the sending unit and tested it. It was something like 11ohms full and 38 ohms when empty, with a pretty even sweep...

    Ford industrial CAV pump problem

i got adventurous and removed the rear cover off the pump. found this, broken rotor and vanes on the transfer pump. The darn rotor cost $88 alone plus $15 for shipping and another $20 for the vanes.

    Ford industrial CAV pump problem

I have a ford industrial tractor (i think model 420). Was running perfectly but the ignition switch was not working very well so i swapped it out. At the same time I got the oil pressure light working and to test the light I cranked the tractor for a few seconds with the fuel cutoff pulled out...

4400 industrial hydraulic oil for 3pt

I recently aquired a 4400 industrial tractor and have been trying to work out the bugs. It had a pretty nasty hydraulic leak on a harley rake that has been on the tractor for quite some time and I now suspect it is low on oil. The 3pt and remotes work just fine on level ground but when pointing...

    looking at ford 4400 industrial

Well I got it home on friday, finally had a chance to start playing with it today and find most of its issues. Here is what I have found. -Two bearings dead in harely rake -sliders cracked where ripper teeth mount (I took those off and beefed them up with some 3/8 plate) -Power steering weak...

    looking at ford 4400 industrial

It appears to have at least one set of remotes. Here is another picture. The harley rake appears to be older, but it supposedly works well. What is the common issue with steering? Just generally sloppy? The 445 that I borrowed from a neighbor was quite sloppy if I remember correctly.

    looking at ford 4400 industrial

Hi All, I have lurked here many times as I have been tractor shopping for a few years now. I am finally getting close enough that I have a specific tractor to ask about. There is a ford 4400 diesel for sale locally. I am hoping to go see it this week. Dont know much about it yet, it has recent...
