Briggs & Stratton torque spec needed

I'm looking for a torque spec for the rocker stud on a B&S engine. 15.5HP model 28N707, Type 0635A1. I posted this in the JD section because it is on a Sabre, but figured more might see it here. Thanks for the help!

    B&S 15.5HP torque spec needed!

Working on a 15.5 Briggs and Stratton, model 28N707 type 0635A. The rocker stud for the exhaust valve was coming out of the head. I plan to clean the threads and put some mild loctite on it but I'd love to know the torque spec and seem to find it? Any help appreciated!

What is a Deines mower worth??

I haven't looked at it yet, but a guy wants to trade one in on a Dixie Chopper. I tried to get him to let me sell it for him, rather than take it on trade. There is very little information available on them, but I don't want to give him more than I need to. This isn't the best time of year for...

    Chainsaw safety rant

Well I'm not one to preach, but I have been a Stihl dealer for a while now and was just going over what I need to put on order. Stihl has a nice DVD that I sell for $5 and I think in the last few years, I have only sold 3!! One was to a commercial tree service that wanted their workers to...

    June rebate program from Montana

Just wanted to help spread the word that Montana has a really strong rebate deal going on this month. If you've been on the fence about a new tractor, this could be the time to pull the trigger. Depending on the model, etc... Rebates range from $1,000 to $2,000 and in my book, that's real...

Why does the "Wild Thing" exist?

I did some service work on a Poulan Wild Thing. Customer has been called, but hasn't picked it up yet. Hope he doesn't stick me with it because I'd throw it away before I would sell it!! I even cut my labor charge down a lot out of guilt because I now know what a hunk of junk this thing is...

    Bad Boy ZTR mowers ?

Believe 1/2 of what you see, and none of what you hear. No, I am not a Bad Boy dealer. Had a potential customer last year ask me if Montana was going out of business because a local Farmtrac dealer told him they were. I know he didn't buy from me and I bet he didn't buy from that dealer...

    Bad Boy ZTR mowers ?

Saw a Bad Boy at TSC the other day. It was not one of their top models. Had the Kohler Courage engine, Sunstrand pumps, and it was more of a unibody design. It was WAY heavier that the box store junk, but was also $5000. Just watch that they don't start to expect YOU to be the warranty...

    Honest dealers..............

In my opinion, I work pretty hard to see that my customers are happy with the products they buy from me and the level of service I offer. I am far from wealthy from running this business, but I have to believe that by treating people the way they should be treated, I will experience steady...

Did you know that Stihl products aren't expensive??

OK, you caught me, I'm a dealer...... But this is something I have given a lot of thought to. I can't count the number of times I read on here that someone is looking for a lawn widget and they say they would love to buy a Stihl, but can't afford it!! Now if you are shopping in the throw away...

    Meeting time!

I leave in a few hours to get to the airport. I'm looking forward to whole day of technical training Thursday and all day Friday will likely be product training. Hope to be able to post a long note when I get back to let all of you folks know what Montana is doing next! It's not easy to make...

Need help with a strange trailer problem

Well I have owned a trailer for a few years now that just tows like junk. It's a 24' gooseneck rated at 14'000 lbs and has Dexter axles with slipper spring suspension. The reason I have put up with it for this long is that life just goes by fast. When I bought the trailer and towed it home...

    back blade use instructions

I have a customer that called me to tell me the pivot pin on his rear blade bent. Well when he brought it to me, I found that the entire thing has cracks in it and a lot of twisted parts. I told him I would repair it at no cost but explained that all of the damage was caused from abuse and...

    Yanmar 336D loader help needed

I have a customer looking for a loader for a 336D and can't seem to find one. I was told this is a US tractor but I wondered if it had a grey market equal or a JD equal that could be used to help track down a loader? Thanks, Ken

    Welding with an alternator??

Was posting to another question and it brought up one of my own. There are a few places that sell alternators with control boxes so they can be used for stick welding. Just wondered if anyone had the know how to build something like this as the ones I've seen are pretty expensive. I had...

Jinma 284 clutch fork pin broken

I haven't split the tractor yet but the cross shaft is moving fine and there is no pressure on the pedal so I assume the pin holding the fork to the shaft fell out or broke. 320 hours on the tractor. Not wanting to need to do this repair again, I wondered if there is a better way to fasten the...

    Dealer  Deere dealers closing down

Well it looks like two Deere dealers very close to me have been told they are no longer wanted as dealers. The closest one to me I know pretty well and he has built his life around trying to sell and service the green and yellow. He has never had anything in his place that wasn't JD or...

Update your profiles guys and gals!!

OK, I'm just as guilty as the next guy and I just added a little to mine but there are many times when looking at a question that it would be of great help to have more information on the person asking the question. You don't have to even give us your name if it's funny or your age if you are...

    2740 & 3240 owners, need your help!

I am a Montana dealer and in my territory, the JD 790 seems to be a big mover. I've done a spread sheet to show the JD 790 VS the Montana 2740 feature for feature but being a dealer, folks may just think I'm trying to make the brand I sell look good. Anyone out there owning a 2740 or 3240 that...
