a good old fashioned electrical fire

since last winter I've been having an intermittent problem on my 4310, the 30a fuse for the headlights/signal lights blows for no apparent reason, it first happened when i changed the tilt on the steering wheel to accommodate the bulky winter clothes and expanding waistline. with warm weather...

Does anyone have an easy way to remove snow from equipment after use

one thing that helps is the snow not sticking to begin with, each fall before the snow starts to fly i will polish the backblade and bucket with an inexpensive car polish, if i end up plowing a lot sometimes i will reapply.

    Mole Control Patrol

for MOLES, not gophers(pocket, striped, etc.), not rats, not mice, not voles or shrews but moles, those little beggars that tunnel along just below the turf in your yard, the only thing I've found in 30 years that works every time is an "easy set mole eliminator" made by wire-tek.

    JD 420 loader toothbar?

My 420 loader bucket cutting edge is 3/4" thick. For the width that I need, 59 1/2", all of the toothbars that I see are manufactured for a bucket with a cutting edge no more than 5/8" thick so the toothbar would not fully engage the front of the bucket. Does anybody use one of these on thier...

    Forks  Artillian Forks

This has been a while in the coming, but I can say with no hesitation that the quick attatch fork assembly from Artillian is a great addition to my tractor. Well thought out and solid construction. I got my forks last fall and they pretty much stayed on the loader until I couldn't keep up with...

    Keeping out the mouse

Does anybody have a tried and true method to keep the mice away? I continually find the little buggers up under the hood and dash of my tractor, to say nothing of in and on my lawn mower when I lay it up for the winter. Do dryer sheets actually work? I would hate to spend a few dollars just so...

    Seat Adjustment

On my 4310 there are 3 knobs for adjusting the seat, a rotating lever for front to rear, a knob with a flip-out handle for up and down, and a second knob with what appears to be a stylized/side-view image of the seat. Does anyone know what this second knob is for? My manual doesn't show it. JP.

    New Trailer Questions

My wife recently bought me a new trailer and I've got a question or two you all can probably help with. The trailer is a Load Trail 20' car hauler. It's a bit bigger than I need right now, but she is such a sweetheart, I couldn't turn it down. Q1, I was taught to always load a trailer hooked up...

John Deer vs. LandPride ( flail mowers )

If anyone has specific knowledge of the John Deere model 360 flail mower, or LandPride FM2060 model, I would appreciate your input. Deere has more cutters and more height adjustment but is $800, EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS more! I know brand bashing is fun but I am looking for honest feedback from...

    3000 lb. load

I need a trailer to haul a 300 gal. water tote and accessories, 3000 lbs tops. I need to travel about 50 miles round trip over the road so I need something that will take both highway and mild off-road use. My question is, will a converted pick-up box type trailer work for this?? I know I'm...

    Stress Relieving Weldment

After modifying my back blade I need to make a new bracket for the top link. I'm using 1/4" steel for the weldment and wondering if I should try to stress relieve it at all? If I use a torch to bring it to a "blue temperature" and let it cool, it should be ok, right?? JP.

    Rake  Case Hay Rake

I have an old Case side delivery rake, and a question. The lever in the middle changes the pitch of the teeth, I know that, but what for?? Also, What is the function of the slotted doo-hickey that this lever rides over, and what is missing in this picture? It seems like there should be some sort...

    Which Hitch??

My back tells me it's time for a quick-hitch but which one? After scouring the web they all seem about the same (ASAE spec) other than drastic price difference. My local JD dealer wants $300, "Fleet" type store around $200 for Speeco, or there's Landpride, Woods, etc. Any advice? JP.

    Throttle creeps down

I have a 4310, 5 yrs old. Recently the throttle began to creep down on me. I use the tractor year-round, no trouble last summer or in winter, but this spring it started happening. Will not maintain engine rpm, throttle lever actually moves. Any idea what might cause this?? JP.

    4310 no forward gear

I have a JD 4310, less than 300hrs. Today while working with a tiller it just stopped, no forward travel. I was using the cruise control. The little blinky light on the right side panel was flashing. After stopping and starting the engine I could move in reverse but not forward. If I try to go...
