    Tall grass problems with a B 7510?

I had a Ford 1100 4x4 that I mowed stuff way higher than the hood. I had some wrap around the pto shaft in front of the drive shaft, and it packed it so tight that it pushed it thru the seal and into the transmission. The guy (a friend) who pulled the rear cover and cleaned it out, and replaced...

    2025: Year of the Tick

We had a one legged turkey out back, so I started feeding it. When she would come eat, she invited her friends, who invited the squirrels, who invited the deer. We have deer and turkeys that will come towards you when you go outside, looking for a hand-out. I was concerned that bringing this...

    finishing mower gearbox replacement

Changing out a finish mower gearbox isn't a big deal, "IF" you have plenty of metal fabrication tools and experience to use them. Most gearboxes simply sit on a platform, so the height of the platform, the gearbox bolt pattern will matter. You will have output shaft dimensions issues, which...

    Ya gotta be careful

I learned to drive a semi truck when paper logs were how you managed your driving hours. Casters

Xfaxman, Would it help to weld a flat plate across the top of the existing angle iron legs and then attach the caster wheels to the bottom of that plate? That would drop the overall height of the press by several inches, making it a lot less top heavy. An added long term advantage would be...

Major problem? No, just bad fuel

I need to take a video of the fuel depot out near the mouth of the river here! Trucks with Shell, Chevron, Love's and a host of independent fuel haulers all use the same tanks to receive their truckloads of fuel which goes to the underground tanks at the respective stations. How long it is...

    Is my diesel still usable?

If there are no signs of algae growing in the fuel, I would not hestitate to use it. I am currently running fuel in a diesel tractor that I loaded up from out in the middle of the field where the tractor sat for a minimum of 5 years. It was clear, didn't have any algae growing, and I had already...

    Home-made rope making machine

I made hundreds of thousands of miles of stranded rope and cable during my employment at a wire and cable company. Same principal as above, but using steel wires instead. We also had big motors instead of hand cranks, as well as large capstan to pull the wire as it was stranded, which controlled...

    Three legged dogs

I kind of have a soft heart for animals missing a leg. At the age of three, I was severely burned on my left leg. The emergency room doctors (on Navy base) wanted to remove my leg halfway up my thigh. My Mom refused to let them, and when I came out of shock screaming, She asked the Doctor if...

BX 25 Is there a cover that will cover everything including backhoe?

Kind of my thoughts, although we don't have mice issues here (which is surprising due to the amount of corn we put out daily). I would think one or two of those 10x10 collapsable tent coverings set up end to end might be better but unfortunately, those things don't hold up in the wind...

    3d Printing for PT

One of my "techy" friends has been working on my Toro Workman. The cab door had been jerry rigged, and he got with one of his buddy's at work and they printed the parts to make the door latch mechanism operational again. Toro didn't make the cab, and the cab manufacturer is hard to deal with...

BX 25 Is there a cover that will cover everything including backhoe?

If you loan it out, send a tarp with it. If they won't cover it with a tarp, they probably wouldn't cover it with a custom made or fitted cover. Is mice an issue in your area? Covering it with a tarp or cover all the way to the ground is going to increase humidity issues along with access to...

    Three legged dogs

I was doing something on the tractor out back when I heard a noise that sounded "different". I stopped, sat still and listened. The noise I heard was a one legged wild turkey hopping thru the leaves. We went and picked up a bag of corn, and she got where she would come to the front yard to eat...

2nd update on the Ford 1210 PTO problem.

These tractors are available in the used market and also in the salvage yards in the USA. You might consider purchasing the part and having it shipped to you. It won't be cheap to have it removed and shipped, but it would get the tractor pto working again. As an example, I purchased a...

Comparison Shuttle shift or hydrostat?? Is the extra costs worth it in a 50hp-ish cab tractor for pto power (brush hogging)

Scootr, M7040 with shuttle shift means I can be going full bore one direction, flip the lever and be going full bore in reverse without touching a gear shifter or the clutch. Works at any speed, any gear, just flip it and you are going the opposite direction at the same speed, instantaneously...

Comparison Shuttle shift or hydrostat?? Is the extra costs worth it in a 50hp-ish cab tractor for pto power (brush hogging)

Interesting, because I own an M7040 with a gear transmission and shuttle shift. I also own a JD2555 without the shuttle shift and I wouldn't want to use the JD2555 for regular loader work. I also wouldn't want to have to have the engine running wide open all the time when trying to do close...

2nd update on the Ford 1210 PTO problem.

Not sure I understand exactly what you are referring to with the over running clutch. I was not aware that the 1210 came with one installed. As far as needing an overrunning clutch to keep the momentum of the bush hog from pushing the tractor, they make them that go on the pto shaft with a...

    Summit - Major Discount

Or maybe a little more! I priced a diesel with 72" cut by a major player in the zero turns a couple years ago. My bride nixed that idea, even though I could justify "some" of it through a business that would help pay for it. It was hovering around $23K... David from jax

While some people are ok with stuff that happens, I would also wonder where all that fluid went and how your going to clean it up if the land owner complains. David from jax
