Kohler 26hp twin surging at high throttle, okay at medium to 70% throttle

To me it sounds like it's running a bit lean. It's not getting enough gas. I would try mowing with it. As the governor opens up the throttle under load the carburetor pulls fuel from a different circuit in the carb. It might make enough of a difference in your case. There is also a possibility...

Well I'm not saying it will for sure cut the bit but I think it's worth a try. A machinist will look at it from the point of view of making money on the job. By the time he builds something to hold the chisel securely he can't charge you enough to make it pay for his business. Especially if...

What a lot of people don't realize is that too much grease in a ball bearing makes it run quite a bit hotter untill the excess grease is pushed out of the bearing. Washboarding on gravel drive

Where I live 90% of wash board is on the up hill side of a hill (vs down hill) or the acceleration side of a gravel corner. 126. P

    Washboarding on gravel drive

Yes to the above and also if you want to completely get rid of washboard you need to loosen the gravel to the bottom of the washboard and grade it smooth. A bit of compaction at this point goes a long way. After a good rain is an optimal time for doing that. Then as you drive over the gravel it...

    For those with block heaters

Well when I use a block heater it's because I'm more concerned about getting the engine started than I am about engine wear. There's a lot less money involved in plugging in a block heater vs buying new battery's because they aren't testing in the top percentiles.

    Reversible fan retrofit anyone?

Your points are all valid but you missed a major one. The simple answer is because they don't need them. There's adequate airflow at speed and when the engine is idling at lower speeds higher airflow isn't needed. I don't know about pickup trucks with diesel engines and set up for towing but...

  139. P

    Reversible fan retrofit anyone?

I can see the advantage but I wouldn't personally install one. The factory fan on newer larger hp tractors is equipped with a fan clutch that regulates the fan speed to control the flow of air through the radiator. A reversing fan eliminates that feature. So instead you have a fan that is...
