    Box blade

Places like agri supply have the different teeth and bars in stock. All the pictures in the world won't teach you what is hardened what is available what fits your needs and let you touch it. The slots have a tolerance, too small they jam, too big they jam, where the teeth will fall.

    Older International 354

Like I have said in the past, bought both my john deeres from the stealership in 1999. I have not been back or have needed to since. Buy once cry once you get what you pay for so long as it isn't new or BMW/ Audi. I haven't babied my small tractors but for diligent maintenance. They have plowed...

    Older International 354

I have yet to see a tractor with a suspension. I take the rough ride as normal and the seat spring contraption on my jd's as some sort a an inside joke. Its only there so the seat doesn't slam down when I flip the hinge back after I power wash the guts. Actually the oem seat, as ridiculously...

    Worst oil change ever

I googled genesis, not a huge car, not a huge engine. My Duramax takes ten but I expect that from a diesel especially with how much accumulates in diesel waste oil. Any suggestions as to why so much for a relatively small engine? My om617 Merc only takes five as does my VW tdi just four, my JDs...

I Went To Purchase A New Mini-Excavator And This Happened.....

These responses are funny. Some saying it isn't a big deal, others saying you should have accepted it and tried to bargain a price reduction. My two cents, new is new, a demo is used, used is accepting she isn't a virgin anymore. If it's my money I expect what I pay for to be just as I ordered...

    Basic theft prevention

My approach would be a tractor ignition can be jumped and unlike a car there is no steering lock. I would disable the tractor in a nondestructive way. I would take a wheel and the starter home. The steering wheel turned hard left and pulled. More difficult to steal or tow. As I have said parts...

Have I been using my weed trimmer wrong?

According to my Stihl manual and dealer, speed to match load. Revving without load stresses the components and shortens tool life. A chainsaw as an example, you balance rpm with stock removal, load. Let the tool do the work, but don't overload it or race the engine needlessly as both cause undo...

    Tractors and (upcoming) tariffs?

You need to buy new equipment every year? You are kind of tough on your tools maybe you should learn how to use them correctly. A tractor should last a decade with proper maintenance many lasting a lifetime. Retrain your staff to change the oil at least once every generation or before the turn...

Powering outbuildings further than 600 feet from your homes main panel.

Well I finished the panel today and had it inspected. Because of the devastation not far from me power in western North Carolina crews are still busy and will likely head south to Florida in a few days. So generator for now but taken everyone's advice consensus being a separate meter.

Powering outbuildings further than 600 feet from your homes main panel.

Beautiful, it's sad that Sears died and still amazed by all the things they sold. Minibikes, sewing machines, prefabricated homes, even farm field equipment.

Powering outbuildings further than 600 feet from your homes main panel.

Yes but found it was very shallow, clipped a wire ten feet from the old trailer location that was twelve inches deep. Someone cut some corners that day, I asked the utility to remove the breakers at the transformer so I could trace the lines. Must have needed extra work here in just before...

Powering outbuildings further than 600 feet from your homes main panel.

Thanks, I was adding the numbers and the possibility of damage to other utilities in setting the already expensive wiring in the ground, cheaper to pay extra for a meter charge for years than the work to tie into the house.

Powering outbuildings further than 600 feet from your homes main panel.

Yes but cut, I am going to tie into and get a new meter. The cost of that much wire the additional expense of a survey of utilities, crossing water main, two irrigation systems, a paved road and unknowns is more than an extra twenty dollars a month for several years.

Powering outbuildings further than 600 feet from your homes main panel.

I recently purchased my neighbors property. It had a decrepit mobile home which I have removed and a well made 24x30' garage with a 30x30' concrete pad in front. I have fully insulated, Sheetrocked the walls, changed the locks and am in the process of electrifying it. I have moved much of many...

Can’t loosen hydraulic hose (not a quick connect)

First, remove all the other hoses then deal with the bad one. Those knipex plyers are amazing and will work if you give them space.

Why are Massey ferguson and Yanmar so much more than TYm for what seems like less??

Why? If you purchase expecting it to break you obviously have made a poor choice. I purchased two jd 790's 26 years ago and have never needed service from them other than universal ground cables, batteries and tires. You do get what you pay for, you buy kmart you get Kmart. Kia and Hyundai are...

    Another Battery!

For me the shaking of the battery caused the wires to break and terminals to rip off the studs but the battery actually still works as a camper light today but using a desulfating charger from 1998. These are smaller frame batteries but I still say optima glass batteries are garbage.

    Another Battery!

I just remembered, the only automotive battery that had given me any grief were in my cj7 when I switched to the fancy AGM optima, those were warranty replaced twice in three years. After the third replacement they voided its warranty. Switched back to a die hard, ten years no issues. Optima...

    Another Battery!

My oem JD 790's( I have two) had last nearly 15 years and were replaced for peace of mind not failure. I am on my second set on these 1998 JDs. I have had to replace two ground cables and three terminal connectors in all that time. Batteries last, wires are my consumable.

Is there a safe way to pump gasoline into a plastic tank in the bed of a truck?

Short answer, no, and yes if you use the trucks internal fuel tank. Gas doesn't give you a do over.

1 tractor rest of forever -- what brand?

No I can get most Toyota parts in a day. My neighbor has been borrowing my second JD for four months now and that is getting old. Broken a rule here, never loan out your stuff, ever. I am wondering if I will ever get it back.

1 tractor rest of forever -- what brand?

I don't understand? I bought a 1998 John deere 790 new, I am on my second set of tires and seat springs, that's it. Bought a second used same year twenty years ago same deal, new tires and seat spring which to be honest is a plastic rubber spring like thing I will eventually replace with a real...

Another tractor manufacturer out of business?

I think most of the pro EV are missing the point. I have many vehicles most twenty years old or more, all road worthy, all diesel but for my 1979 cj7. My w126 diesel has 383,000 miles on it, I purchased a spare engine for it over a decade ago that sits unused in the barn corner shelf. Still...
