    Howe's Diesel Defender

I owned semi trucks for 28 years. I now own two diesel mowers and a diesel tractor. With the exception of adding #1 for winter blend in the snow blower "mower" I have never to the best of my knowledge blended #1 in anything else. I live in MN and while I did have a gell up and added 911 to a...

PTO Chipper Advice -- maneuverability and center of gravity concerns

I had a woodland Mills’s W88. It was a good piece of equipment, which I sold due to no more wood burning in the house. That said I had it on a 955 Deere and it was a load. It weighed 1000 lbs. The hydraulics lifted it fine, but it did make one insecure. I never went across side hills, I backed...

    John Deere or Kubota mower

I am not sure if you have removed "used" as an option? I would look at a Kubota F series front mount. Something no older than the F2560 model on up. 25-30 hp 3 cyl diesel, usually a 72” deck, commercial grade, built like a tank. You can buy a good one for under 10K, and it will likely still be...

    Wife pulled a new one.....

Been dere done dat! Mine was a fire hydrant. Stopped in a Kubota dealership while talking on my phone out in the lot. 15 min later I got off the phone and pulled ahead into a hydrant that I had stopped in front of, to close to see it. Got the bumper hooked to the hydrant and they had to pull it...

    Need utility Side by Side

I have a Kubota rtv 500. 2014 model. This is a gas machine. 2 cyl. 950 hrs and no repairs. I like the hydrostatic. It won’t win a road race but is handy and reliable. If you want something bigger that will get more done, the diesel versions of these are built like a tank. Plus it’s likely a...

Anyone else waiting to see if tractors without the EPA stuff are coming?

There is an enormous amount of engineering and technology that goes into pollution control on modern diesel engines. The list of failed engines is proof of that. That said it is highly unlikely that Detroit, Cummins, and other manufacturers are going to redesign an entirely new engine, which...

If it picks it up, then move it. Especially on flat ground for 80’ ! Needless to say terrain is key here. If the 3ph is stressed out, then you don’t want to be going downhill, while turning the trailer. Let common sense be your guide!

OEM Tractor Oil vs Shell, Valvoline, Amsoil, etc.

I used to load bulk motor oil in Cicero IL. On the same racks from the same pipes they loaded Shell, Cenex, Philips and other brands. Oil is like gasoline and diesel. It’s all the same. Only a small additive package differentiates the brands. I don’t know about the oil additive quantities...

I have 2 F2560’s. The older one has an issue with the treadle working harder. But it’s not the bushing under the treadle, it’s back inside the frame rail, behind the battery. The dealer told me to spray a light lube up into that linkage there. While there is a zerk on the older one in that...

I did not hear that John Deere is starting to move production out of USA. FOR some model tractors

You need a $178,000 to live comfortably in MS? Seriously? There’s a lot of families of 4 that could live "comfortably" in a lot of states besides MS for $178k. But I would likely agree MS would be close to the cheapest state to live in. You get what you pay for!

Mounting truck tire on 11R22.5 rim tubless

Have mounted quite a few tires with starting fluid. IF you go that route the valve core should be out, and you should use starting fluid that "mists". The steady stream ones don’t ignite as well. John Deere brand was the worst. As for split rims, that’s why they invented tire shops. BTW, if you...

    Just bought a F3060!

The only complaint I have on my F2560 is the ride. I am 6’5” and 260. That means the adjuster on the seat is all the way tight and I still bottom out. Has anyone successfully put an air ride seat on one of these? And if so does it require a larfe amount of drilling and fitting? Thanks.

I have 2 f2560’s. The smaller version of yours. You might have a time finding a blade and a power broom for that. it took me quite awhile to find a snow blower for mine As Kubota no longer messes that mode. Also remember the broom and blade need the hydraulic Kit attachment.which is...

1 tractor rest of forever -- what brand?

I have several Kubotas. I have not looked at a Kiota ina long time. But back when I did they were very well built. The frame and the loader looker extremely tough. U dear the hood, it looked like they took a Kubota engine apart and copied it, right up to the oil filter placement.

Well pipelines do regularly run alternate products back to back. But no plugs, or at least now my 45 yrs hauling petroleum have told me. Products are determined by gravity readings. Looking for inexpensive AW46 - Hydraulic Oil

    Pulling Trailer with BX

I tried a version of this with a Ford 8N. To keep the drawbar from rotating I made the end pins so that they wrapped around the arms to keep the drawbar level. Not a good idea. PTO Chipper Advice -- maneuverability and center of gravity concerns

I have a Woodland Mills 8” on a 955 JD. The tractor weighs around 2000, and the chipper around 1000. So, it’s a load. If you have a tractor in the 25 hp area a 6” chipper might be enough, as my 33hp Deere has its hands full. Weight wise it’s tippy, but can be handled with CARE. Meaning no...
