I use the compression release, with the fuel shut off, to spin the engine and circulate some oil before starting. I guess that is not its real purpose though, so what should I be using it for?
I am trying to separate the front knuckle from the axle on my F14D as it is leaking oil. I have unbolted it from the steering arm/crank thing on top and they have separated. As I understand it, the knuckle should just drop down now but it doesn’t. I have wiggled and pulled and used a bit of...
I've been away from the Frum for a while, but a major issue has brought me back.
My steering started to feel notch, lumpy through the wheel a few weeks ago and today totally failed. The steering wheel snow turns freely with no effect on the wheels. Used the independent brakes to cajole the old...
Can anyone offer any advise as to how I remove the dashboard on an F14D? I want to install a switch and wiring for some rear facing work lights.
I have removed the steering wheel, the throttle lever and taken all the screws out of the dash. It is loose now but won't slide up far enough to clear...
The gearbox on my finish mower is leaking a lot of oil and I'd like to replace the input shaft seal to see if that improves matters. It also throws some oil out through the vent hole in the filler cap, whywould that be?
I know nothing about the gearbox, not even the maker.
If I take the bolts...
When we bought our house the previous owner left a DR wheeled trimmer behind. He thought it was broken as the engine wouldn't start, but it turns out it was just overfilled with oil which flooded the cylinder. Bonus for me, a fully functioning DR for free!
Anyway, I've used it for a year or so...
No real point to this thread other than to let people know what I've been using in my old Yanmar, a product I don't think you have in the US. It's a UTO that can be used as an engine oil as well as gearbox and hydrailics. It generated a few interesting comments in the Yanmar forum so thought I...
This'll be pretty routine tedious stuff to most of you, but as there is so little info about on the F14D I though it might be useful for any curious owners in the future.
Raising my 3ph was becoming a bit of a noisy and sluggish activity so I thought it was a good time to give the fluid and...
I've never bothered much with my tyre pressures as everything seemed to handle ok, but as I was giving the old girl a check over today I thought I ought to check them.
20psi in the rear, 15psi in the fronts.
Is that acceptable? Too high? Too low? I've not a clue!Tractor drives ok I don't have...
My old original headlights were way past their best. Just about still functioning but corrosion in the lamps themselves and the wiring meant they weren't much good for anything other than a bit of mood lighting in the garage.
New original headlights are still available for the F14, but they...
I've just tried to use the iOS app for the first time. I tried to start a thread but I can't type into any of the fields. The keyboard springs up but it appears be frozen. I have to force quit the app and start again. It's on an iPhone 4s if that's relevant.
The tile should read "electrical" but I don't know how to edit it!
I need to replace my headlights as they are rusted through, and at the same time add one or two work lights to the rear so I can see what the implement is up to in the dark. I'm going to use LED lamps to keep the power...
Does anyone know how I might find the hydraulic fluid screen on an F14D? It's getting a bit noisy when I raise the 3ph so I think it's new fluid and filter time. The spin on Hydraulic filter is under the right hand foot plate if that is of any relevance. Can take pictures etc. if it would help.
I'm just putting a new battery on the Yanmar and just wondered, is it still the done thing to grease the battery terminals. Looking at my newish car, the terminals don't appear to have anyhting on them. I always used petroleum jelly (Vaseline) in the past, but I haven't changed a battery for...
I know the UFO controls have been covered before but the other threads don't seem to answer this. Should be a simple question.
Does this joystick...
...control these hydraulic connections?...
?
If it does would it be simple to connect up a log splitter or a hydraulic top link?
I was prompted to post this up after mentioning it in another thread and just thought you might find it interesting. As part of my job 9 I sometimes need to tow large vehicles (40 tonnes plus) with a Land Rover Discovery or Mitsubishi Shogun. Obviously, that sort of weight is well above the...
Just out of curiosity, how much are people in the US paying for diesel? I know it's cheaper, but just curious how much.
I use road diesel and paid about £1.38per litre which I think equates to about $5.22 per US gallon*. If I bought off road red diesel I think that costs about half that price...
Im going to need to change the hydraulic/gearbox oil in my F14D. I've a slow leak from one of the seals, but as I don't know what oil is in there now I'd prefer to change it all before I start topping up.
Firstly, do I want a universal tractor oil or something else?
Assuming it is tractor oil...
I was thinking that the vast majority of TBN members spend a lot of time outdoors there must be some good effective remedies for hayfever to share. At this time of year I suffer terribly with itchy eyes and nose, sneezing and Asthma. It really takes the appeal out of going outdoors for two...
Is it possible to adjust excessive play out of the steering box on an F14? I'm not looking for go kart levels of precision here, but it would be nice to have a bit more of a say in where it's going than I do at the minute. I reckon there's about 1/6th of a turn of free play at the steering wheel.
After months sorting out all the minor faults with my very cheap tractor and finish mower, I finally spent a day cutting grass. All seemed to go well, except I'm not sure about the 3ph top link.
To allow the mower to follow the contours of the ground I need to extend the top link so that the...
I've been having trouble getting the PTO drive shaft QR to engage at the tractor end. I thought the QR was faulty but now I think its due to the short length of the output shaft. I've bought an overrun clutch that is secured with a roll pin, which I need to drill the hole in the output shaft...
I drained the front axle this afternoon. When I removed the drain plug from the left hand side, I tiny amount of clean water came out before any oil. Nothing to worry about, or a sign of impending doom?
Also, I noticed that the oil drained from either end was black and dirty, while that drained...
Yet another query about my F14, feel like im hogging the forum a bit, but I am on a steep learning curve! There is a grease fitting on top of either end of the front axle, direct above where the steering swivels. How often should these be greased, and how do I know when I've pumped enough grease in?
I was all set to pick up some 15w40 when my operator manual arrived from Hoye. In there it says SAE 20 for my climate. Now that grade isnt readily available in the UK, except in vintage car circles! Is 15w40 the way to go?
Im sure this must have been covered before but I've had no luck with the search. What is the process for diagnosing a faulty temp gauge. I guess the fault will either be the sender, the gauge itself or the wiring in between. I have a multimeter so it can't be that hard, can it?
I guess I need...
I'm going to switch the rear wheels, left to right to give me little wider track for slope work (every little helps!). Question is, do I swith the fronts too? Instinct says yes, but thought I'd check.
Hope this doesn't break any cross posting rules.
I've got a problem with my mower hitting the rear tyres which I posted here http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/312638-hitch-arms-contacting-wheels.html
I'm wondering if anyone else with a Yanmar F could shed any light on it. Are some...
Ive not had my tractor (yanmar F14) or 4ft finishing mower long. Today was only it's second real outing. So im not at all experienced in this stuff. I seem to have a problem where, on any kind of side slope, the mower deck moves to the down hill side and the corresponding hitch arm starts...
I was chatting with my neighbour yesterday and he asked whether I would consider removing some trees from my field (with his help) to improve the view from his house. I'd be happy to do this, it's good for neighbourly relations, they make mowing awkward and the fire wood would be handy. I...
Hello! I'm brand new here. Just picked this up yesterday...
It's my first tractor, bought more as a hobby rather than out of need. Initially I intend to use it for mowing and moving logs around, although I don't have any implements yet, other than a home made transport box to go on some home...
Just a quick hello. I've just bought an old grey import Yanmar. It's my first tractor and will mainly be used for mowing when I get round to buying a topper for it.
First port of call will be the Yanmar forum to try to figure out exactly which model I have! Think it's an F16, but everything on...
