Thanks Darryl got the picture, and good idea on the socket, if no one comes up with anything better that's probably what I will have to do.

Any clues on how to get the nut out? I have bent the depressed area, that is serving as a lock, back but there is no room for a wrench and the shaft is 6" long so there is no socket that will reach.
