Mowing MT 125 OWNER WITH LM1160 MOWER. Replacement blades???

Oregon makes blades that are close, but not the same dimensions as the LS blades. It's not as easy as buying replacement blades for a Ferris or Scag mower.

    Finally made tractor decision.

+1 for Rimguard. Makes rear end much more stable and provides extra weight for traction. Doesn't freeze in the winter.

Mowing MT 125 OWNER WITH LM1160 MOWER. Replacement blades???

I haven't found any aftermarket options, but looking at aftermarket prices for similar blades, the OEMs were not that much more expensive.

    Year-round oil viscosity

Western NY has a similar climate, although we haven't seen -20 too often lately. I've been running T6 5w-40 in mine year-round since new. I also change mine once per year. I do not have a block heater for winter starting, but the tractor is stored in a closed barn (unheated), and I tend to not...

CROSS REFERENCE FOR FILTERS MT 3 42

    Dealer XR4140 stalling

I had issues very similar to the ones you describe on my XR4145. I cleaned and retightened all of the grounds, changed the fuel filter, bled the system, etc. I got no lights or codes either until it went into limp mode several times. It stalled on me several times when I was trying to limp it...

    xr 4145 fuel problems

Check over all of the ground connections (its a good idea to unhook, clean, and re-tighten them all), and look for anywhere the wire harness may have rubbed enough to cause a short. Some of the earlier XR41XX series had bad wiring harnesses in them that would cause some issues with blown fuses...

    Mowing With Compact Tractors

I thought I wanted to maintain one machine for mowing and tractor duties myself, but I was very disappointed with the results. I bought a set of turf tires (to swap my ag tires which I don't usually need in the summer), and a 6' 3-pt finish mower. My dealer said that unless I have a perfectly...

    Hydraulic Top Link Hose Lengths

I bought a cylinder for a hydraulic top link, and I need to make some hoses. So as not to reinvent the wheel, I was curious if anyone with a hydraulic top link could share their hose specs (lengths/fittings/what they would do differently next time, etc.). Thanks!

Kubota L295 for 900$ worth it?

I rebuilt my father's L235 (1982 model) about six or seven years ago. The parts (bearings, piston rings, seals, injectors, etc.) were still available from Kubota at that point. It might be worth seeing whether you can get the parts before you buy the tractor, but it was fairly easy to do the...

    Bucket size for backhoe

Mine came with an 18" bucket, and I bought a 12" bucket after the fact for trenching. I think it was $200-ish. Definitely need two sizes. Be careful digging in wet clay with the 12" bucket. It clogs up more easily.

    XR 4155 No Power

Glad you got it back up and running. There were many issues reported here about poor grounding on the XR series. Most of them were resolved by removing all grounds, cleaning, and reconnecting. Sounds like you did just that.

    Sold on Seafoam

If you're using Stihl 50:1 premix oil, then 50:1 is the limit. I run my Stihl saws at 75:1 with Amsoil 2-stroke oil, and have never had a lubrication issue after many hundreds of hours. I agree though that there should be the proper mix of gas/Sea Foam/Stabilizer/Whatever to oil so you don't...

    LS 4140 bogs down

Mine travels at ~15mph in high range, 4th gear. Might hit 18 going down a hill, but roughly 15mph on level road. Just as an aside, mine started bogging down and felt like it had no power (with no trouble codes) shortly before the hand throttle failed. Not sure if they fixed the issue by the...

    Zerk fittings

I've had a few zerks break on the BH, but they were M10 threads. I got a metric assortment at Harbor Freight that works fine for those. I've not had any break on the tractor yet, though. On other machines, I have re-tapped the holes to a more convenient size depending on what zerks I have...

LS MT-225S backhoe difficult to install

Is it a subframe backhoe? I find with mine that once I hook up the hydraulics, I can use the boom to move the subframe around to get the pins to drop in. It is tight, but not too bad.

    Thoughts on this guy’s experiences

I just got done excavating for a new foundation for an addition on my house (~16' x 24' x 5ft deep) with my LS backhoe (looks like the same as the one in the videos), including 100' of trench for daylighting the footing drain, without any issues. My soil is mostly clay with some large rocks. I...

    LS XR4140 Price & Questions

I have an XR4145 that I bought in 2015. With a loader, 6ft rotary cutter, backhoe, and loaded rear R1's, I paid $33k. It has roughly 470 hours on it now. I agree with Avenger, $25-$27k is a good asking price these days. As long as the one you are looking at has had the correct maintenance...

Dumb question of the day - fuel feed pump

I'm not sure it would be covered under the warranty. LS has been somewhat stingy with regard to what is covered. It should continue working while the engine is running (although you won't necessarily hear it). If it were failing, you would likely have trouble getting the engine to start or...

Honda TRX400FW Starting issue baffling me.

I'll guess that you either have a bad battery, or a bad starter. Try testing your battery with a load tester. The battery on most ATVs is not only for the starter, but also helps run the ignition. That might help to explain why it seemed to start fine when jumped, but started to lose voltage...

Correct, rodneyn. I should have mentioned that my dealer replaced mine.
  29. S

    Front Tire Wear

There should be adjustable end links on the tie rods to correct the alignment. That wear pattern looks a little more like the tires are underinflated, as they are worn on the inside as well when compared to the center. Could also be that you take turns too fast. Just speculating, though.

XR3037H RPM up and down after a few minutes of operation.

I had the hand throttle issue with my XR4145 a couple years ago. It had very similar symptoms. To suggest an answer to your question about regen RPM, when I first got mine, I mistakenly lowered the rpm during a regen (1800-ish), and the RPM started to fluctuate up and down. The idea is to...

    Tajfun logging winch

There is a Farmi dealer near Elmira - Northeast Implement. I bought the JL501 a few years ago. It is probably the best investment I've made in a long time. Makes managing my woods so much easier. The Tajfun winches looked good too, but there aren't any dealers close. Hud-son in Barneveld...

I had a couple of the same cuts on one of my rear tires when I bought mine in 2015 (I have R1's). My dealer told me he thought it was cut by me running over some glass. DO NOT BUY SOLIDEAL TIRES. (TRIGGER WARNING)

Camoplast has been making snowmobile tracks for decades. When I was still in the sport ten years ago, they were the gold standard. I've never seen their Ag tires, so I can't comment there, but does anyone know whether they are manufacturing them in QC, or buying them from China? I never had...

    Broken Backhoe Valve Cap

The BH valve/hydraulic parts for these are hard to come by. There are a handful of people on here, myself included, who have rod end issues at the controls on the top side of the valve bank due to water getting into the boots and ruining the rod ends. Do you know how it broke? If it is truly...

    2" Sleeve Hitch Receiver

    Tilling uncut grass

If you are going to put in a food plot, you need to spray the area with Roundup or some other weed/grass killer and let it sit for a week or so before trying to till it or you will have a new weed bed and the time and money you've spent on seed and fertilizer for your food plot will be wasted...

    BH Joystick Issue

I had exactly that happen to mine. When I get home tonight, I will take a couple pics of what I did to fix it. I got the joints from Midwest Control Products, and some bushings and hardware from McMaster Carr. While not quite factory, it works fine, and I bought enough to rebuild both sides...

    Digging stump techniques

I had a huge maple stump in my yard that took quite a bit of time to get free. Luckily, there wasn't much of a tap root, but some of the horizontal roots were 6" diameter or so. I dug all the way around it like you are doing, then when I thought it was free enough, I hooked a chain to one of...

    Loader float position on XR4140

Just to note, moisture builds up on the linkages in there, making it possibly difficult to get into, and definitely to get out of float. I took the cover off the linkage (below the handle), cleaned and greased everything, and it works pretty well. You may see that if you pull the cover off.

    Help me pick a mower

I mowed about 2 acres with a walk behind Scag (60" deck) for several years at our old place. I think it cost me $1500 and it was indestructible. Relatively flat, trees, gardens to mow around, etc. I think it took me about an hour and a half each week. We moved to a new place, and I am mowing...

    FEL Mounted Brush Cutter Recommendations

Is it possible to rent an excavator, dig a really big hole, or several smaller ones in strategic locations, and bury the brush? It will make really nice soil in a few years. You can use the dirt from the hole(s) to make raised fire break roads through the woods. Just thinking out loud.

Finish mowing with R1 ("ag") tires -- solutions?

I found the best solution to be not mowing with my tractor. I tried a 72" rear discharge deck, and even purchased a set of turf tires. I mowed my lawn (~7 acres) for a season that way, and found that I still tore up the grass in a few areas, even with the turf tires. Worse, the weight of the...

    LS Email

The front rim size is different between the R1 and the R4: The biggest problem is making sure that the OD of the front and rear stays at the proper ratio to match the drivetrain. If it doesn't, you will rip your drivetrain apart in 4WD. The R4's are wider than the R1s, so I think you would...

Can anyone share their experience with the new xr4100 series tractors?

I think the R4's are a little wider tire and may stick out a little more but probably not much. It looks like you could easily unbolt the rears and swap sides to go wider but I think you'd have to remount the fronts to go the opposite direction to go wider there. Outside of my rears measures...

    New XR4145 In The Barn!

I looked at many used, "low hour" tractors that were questionable. I figured that the only reason someone would sell a decent, low hour tractor is that they bought too much tractor for their needs (who really does that?), they had some issue with it and want to get rid of it, or, they have a...
