    Backhoe advice - thanks

All-- Quite some time ago, I was reading everything I could about backhoe operation. I have a Mahindra 5545, 4WD and a frame mounted backhoe, plus some other stuff. . An experienced backhoe operator wrote that it was not necessary to run the engine at brush hog speed; 2100rpm for me. I knew...

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

Bob-- The Komatsu skid steer is a 2005 machine. No environmental stuff. The 2016 Mahindra 5545 has none, either. What made me think to use different oils? I screwed up. I bought what I wanted for each machine and then--like a dummy--proceeded to switch them. --Bill

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

4570Man-- I am going to answer your question. I just need some time on the computer to do so. I might learn something if you--or others--see what I bought and how much it cost. --Bill

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

All-- I changed the oil in my Mahindra 5545 (9 quarts) and my Komatsu SK1020-5 Turbo (10 quarts) skid steer today. I decided to use 15W-40 in the tractor and 10W-30 in the skid steer, using the temperature range shown in their respective manuals. Except, I screwed up. I flipped them: The...

    Mahindra 5545 code 73.1

All-- My 5545 is throwing code upside down "F" 73.1. By the time I got home it had gone to 73.6 and then to 73.7. (I may have missed intermediate codes.) I guess this is an error code or maybe an alert? Thanks! --Bill

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

Will S-- My tractor has two filters; the outer paper filter blew the dust off and an inner filter is pristine. If not, I dilo have sey scheduled for the big Kuomatsu rosta9u5l69 It. I am not discounting the wisdom of your advive. I'll change both. I believe I have a right to do that coming...

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

Will S-- My GUESS is that a clogged air filter produces a fuel-rich exhaust which generates the white smoke. The degree of white smoke represents the amount of unburnt fuel in the exhaust. More white smoke means less fuel burned in the combustion process thereby reducing available power. --Bill

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

All-- We are all good now! I finally had a chance to get the tractor out of the garage today. If you remember, I thought the problem had fixed itself. WRONG. I cranked it up, backed it out and it seemed fine . . . until I put a load on it. (First gear, 2000rpm.) White smoke. The air cleaner...

    Don’t buy mahindra

All-- I have a Mahindra 5545 4wd. When new, I experienced a severe power steering leak. Broken line. Dealer fixed it. Got it home and within half an hour the same thing happened. I "steered" it onto the trailer using the left and right brakes. Suboptimal. Took it back to my Gold Star Mahindra...

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

Will S-- Good suggestions all. Thank you. I would never remove a fuel or oil filter and put the old one back on. We definitely have those rodents you mentioned! Draining some fuel is a good idea, thanks again. --Bill

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

tacticalturnip-- Yes, I have had good luck with it. It is solid, no plastic; 5567lbs without an implement. But I am worried about parts supply. My former dealer--back in Kansas--dropped Mahindra because he said that dealing with Mahindra corporate was a nightmare. There may have been other...

Ken and oldnslo and JJT-- Ken, my machine does not have a clear bowl where the diesel fuel filter sits. oldnslo, good call on the air filter. Thanks. JJT, I do not know if it has an EGR valve. Time to break out the manual. But, I do have an update . . . The weather is good, so I was going...

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

All-- I have a Mahindra 5545, 4wd. Today, it ran very well earlier, but when I started it to do a little backhoe work it began smoking from the exhaust and running very rough and would not produce any power. This happened a couple of years ago, as well. Back then, I had made up my mind to haul...

3-Point Hitch Using Box blade With No Draft/Float Control

I maintain our mile and a half gravel driveway with a Mahindra 5545 and a 7' heavy duty box blade. In the begining, I tried to use the draft control. That was a waste of time. I finally only used position control and that made box blade life a lot easier.

Three point hitch draft control M4700

This discussion of draft control is great. I had to quit lurking and login to give a thank you to LouNY and everyone else. I have a Mahindra 4wd 5545. The manual is sub-optimal concerning draft control. I finally settled on a way to use it with my HD box blade. (I maintain our 1 1/2 mile long...

Chain hooks on Bucket or just use pallet forks? (For misc chain hoisting)

OP, pallet forks can be relatively heavy. You may realize that when picking up something on the heavy side. I have heavy duty pallet forks. I rarely put them on the tractor (Mahindra 5545). I use them a lot on the skid steer.

Why did I buy this thing?

I have a Mahindra 4wd 5545, backhoe, 7' heavy duty brush hog, 7' heavy duty box blade and the FEL. To check the oil I just unscrew the dipstick. I don't have to raise the hood, FEL or take a side panel off. When the dealer was changing the oil, I never checked it. Now that I am changing it...

    Mahindra 5545 4wd w/backhoe arrived today

All-- Over the last few days I put 16 hours on the 5545; all of it was using the backhoe to dig out trees. I tackled everything in the 4" to 18" size range. As this was my first backhoe (and tractor) experience, I had many miscues until I learned a bit about operating the hoe. After that, I...

    Mahindra 5545 4wd w/backhoe arrived today

All-- I got the 5545 transported the 250 miles to our property, safely! The machine weighs 5567lbs, without the backhoe. I do not know what the backhoe weighs. However, my big Ram got 12.1mpg on the trip compared to 11.7mpg pulling the Komatsu with two FELs. I calculated that weight at 9500lbs...

    Mahindra 5545 4wd w/backhoe arrived today

All-- My four wheel drive Mahindra 5545 with backhoe, heavy duty box blade and heavy duty brush hog arrived today. Backup camera for trailer

All-- I have a 22 foot H&H trailer. I need a backup camera on the end of the trailer. However, it doesn't handle obstructions well--like the...

Tell me how to load my tractor and skid steer on the trailer correctly

All-- I have a 2016, 4wd Mahindra with a backhoe and other stuff coming my way. I also have a '05 Komatsu SK 1024 turbo that weighs about 7600lbs. My question concerns where a load is positioned on the trailer (H&H electric/hydraulic tilt bed with upgraded frame and axles). How do I know the...
