    One inch from death

Nothing more dangerous than loading a steel track machine on a trailer. A stepson got killed a year and a half ago loading a paving compactor when it slid off the side. Guy who cut my driveway back in 1974 later was crushed against a tree when the D7 slid off and pinned him- working alone...

    One inch from death

Missed jumping on and was run over by the back wheel. Was on the side opposite the brakes I believe. Those old Ford 8Ns had a difficult to use brake lock I believe like my old JD M had. You have to reach down and flip a lever to lock the pedal- I think. So they don't get used very often. I...

    One inch from death

This is the story of my friend MR. S. in his words: On the pleasant afternoon of April 2, I was out doing spring cleanup chores. I had a load of lilac trimmings loaded, and it was the last project of the day, put away the tractor and it would be Miller Time! My farmer has mushroom soil...

    Valve adjustments F3060 L3600

Did the deed. Can you believe $17 for the valve cover gasket - a simple ring of neoprene rectangular gasket? Valve were all OK Mabe two were at .005 instead of .006 but showed signs that somebody did an adjustment before I bought it. There are four acorn nuts with copper washers holding down...

    Valve adjustments F3060 L3600

Interesting document. Don't suppose you have one for an L3600? I assume I need a new valve cover gasket for the 3060 anything else? Can't possibly be as nasty a job as my Honda S2000 valves! Hope the same size nuts on the rockers.

    Valve adjustments F3060 L3600

Curious who has done that. And was it needed? My owner's manual for my L3600 says to adjust every 800 hours [have not done at 1000 hours]. Wonder if needed? And just FYI - that engine runs cool. My F3060 owner's manual does not mention valve adjustment- I have 2700 hours and have no idea if it...

F3060 Rear Axle Gear Case Oil

Thanks for the replies. I ended up pounding a T40 torx [I think] into the hole in the plug. Still did not come out so I used a propane torch to heat just the plug with a fine flame and tried again. Got them both out. Had to use the Dremel to clean up the smeared metal on the one side first...

F3060 Rear Axle Gear Case Oil

Seems the case of full of gears. I tried checking the oil level with a piece of bent wire and was barely able to get it into the oil. And that oil is black.

F3060 Rear Axle Gear Case Oil

Thought it would be a good idea to change out the rear oils with 2700 hours on the clock. No sweat with the differential oil. It apparently had been changed before I bought it because it was regular smelly gear oil not UDT oil. Dug all the dirt out of the two drain plugs in the gear cases...

    F3060 72 in mower parts

I have a GC-F30H grass catcher on the F3060 I just bought used but the deck is missing the defector [70050-94665] and the boot baffle [-94673] The manual shows them and they look like simple pieces of bent steel. Does anybody have them either for sale or can you make a sketch with dimensions...

    Used F3060 issues

Just bought a used 2002 F3060 with 72 mower and GCF-30H grass catcher with 2400 hours. 1. "Idle" is awfully fast - guessing 1500 RPM-ish and nuts at linkage would seem to indicate it is as set at the factory - no wrench marks on paint. Is that normal? 2. Lift seems to be erratic - sometimes...
