    Wooden Fence Posts

We have several miles of horse fence built on Missouri clay and limestone. I’d borrow or rent a skid loader with an auger that’s just big enough for your posts. The 3-point hitch augers don’t have enough down force to work in out soil and they’re hard to line up by yourself. With our soil timing...

What is the dumbest thing you have done with your equipment ?

Was trimming a tree limb near a barn, standing in the loader bucket with my wife operating the tractor. Limb had a branch I hadn't taken into account, and it fell on a power line breaking the line. Caught the pasture on fire near the hay barn. It was a very hot day and I nearly passed out...

    L3301 or similar

I’d hire a farmer or excavator to prep and grade the soil. Might apply herbicide prior to disking, harrowing, etc. Test the soil and apply lime, fertilizer, etc based on the chemistry. Would use my resources to maintain the lawn after its seeded if this is a one time event.

JD 5045e slow to turn over

If battery and cables check OK then test starter draw amperage with fuel pump disabled. My JD5105 has a diagnostic procedure for this purpose. Also, Nations Electric is a good place for heavy duty starters, alternators, and rebuilds.

Brand new KIOTI dead on arrival

Would look for a fuel cutoff circuit problem. Neighbor’s JD5103 would start but fuel cut off as soon the key was released to run position. Long story short a lazy starter drive stayed engaged long enough to generate current that tripped a relay (fuel cut off) designed for starter diagnostics...

JD5103 bypass start relay #2 problem

I am helping a friend whose JD5103 will fire with the key in the start position then dies when the key is released to the ignition/run position. This is an intermittent problem, more often occurring in cold weather. I determined that bypass start relay #2 is energized inappropriately after the...
