We finally had to saw through the clevis pin to remove the old cylinder from the bracket, but once that was done the new hydraulic cylinder was easy to install. From all the cussing we did I'm not sure it was a labor of love.

The brakes on our C4864 will not hold on an incline. We've been told that they are wet brakes. Has anyone had an opportunity to work on them or point us in the right direction?

Anyone had to remove and replace the power steering cylinder on a Montana C4864 tractor. We purchased an OEM cylinder from UTB. We disconnected the cylinder at the wheel but cannot see how to disconnect the end connected at the block.

Everything worked great today with the sprayer over a 3 acre pasture. Now I'm wondering did I really needed to buy and replace that $500 hydraulic pump. I filled the old one with oil and capped it. It might come in handy at some time.

Good point, I rinsed it off yesterday after spreading the fertilizer and will pressure wash it after I finish my spraying. I don't know why the 3 point started working after opening that plug. I see it in the service manual but there is no reference to it's purpose there or in the operator's...

There's a plug on the top of the 3 point unit. I opened it and the 3 point is working. I'm investigating what that is and what, if anything, should go in it, lubricating or hydraulic wise.

I normally keep it in the middle but with the current situation I have it all the way open.

I was able to fertilize two pastures today with the 3 point in the up position. I will be spraying for weeds tomorrow, but won't be able to use the rake in the lower position. Should I reinsert the plug I removed to see if the 3 point will lower?

I actually stood on it with the lever down and it wouldn't budge. It seems locked in the up position.

Thank you everyone for your research and input. I removed the cap today and found a plug in the port. I removed it, replaced the cap and the 3 point went up. My elation was short-lived since now the 3 point will not go down. Any thoughts?

Gotcha, but what am I looking for? If I'm not using the FEL and the 3 Point is not operating, will I cause additional problems with the transmission by leaving the pressure relief where it is?

I I backed off the pressure relief plug on top of the block and let the tractor run for about 15 minutes. The system ran quietly and did not start the squealing as before. Could it have been since I removed the FEL that the pressure was too high for the system? But the 3 point still does not...

Your diagram looks very similar to what I have for the Max 26XL. I seem to have fluid flow through the system, but I will pull those plugs for inspection. Thanks.

I have seen on other threads for Mahindra tractors that the wrong hydraulic filter other than an OEM one can cause problems. I did replace the filter with a Baldwin BT8488. Does anyone know if that filter would cause a problem on a Max26?

The three capped outlets were where the flexible lines were connected for the FEL and backhoe. The other picture is the pump I replaced with the hard line off the bottom of the pump goes to the front connection at the pump. Any suggestions if the connections contribute to the 3 point not working?

No flexible hoses are hooked up to the block that went to the FEL & backhoe. There are three hard metal lines that are attached to the distribution block that supply fluid to the 3 point and power steering. If I break the fitting fluid does flow.

I have all the flexible hoses removed and the pressure valve in front of the seat set at the halfway point.

I did crack it and fluid came out. Not sure about looping, all the flexible hoses have been removed for the FEL & backhoe.

Good question, I don't recall seeing a spool that can be turned. I'll take a picture tonight and post.

I had to remove the frame for the FEL due to a fracture for welding and disconnected all the hoses from the block. For the backhoe I did have those lines looped. I started the tractor yesterday and it ran quietly for 5 minutes at idle but then it developed a fairly loud squeal from the pump...

I'm wondering since the two pumps are in series, gear driven off the engine, if my problem might be the steering pump or the gears themself? I should also mention the 3 point is not working.

I had to replace the hydraulic pump and metal pressure line going to the block. After about 5 minutes of running, I get a squealing sound from the pump area. I had this problem in cool weather that was caused by loose connections at the three glow plugs.

I had to remove the FEL to weld the support frame that broke. I looped the two hydraulic lines that were going to the FEL controller thinking that would keep the system closed, but now the 3 point will not lift. Do I need to bleed the lines or do I have to reroute the hydraulics differently...

I noticed a number of threads discussing the ETR fuse blowing causing the starter not to start. Has anyone found why that was happening? Did it have anything to do with the seat safety wiring shorting? Has anyone disabled the seat safety wiring?

I have 3 hours on tractor. It has the swivel seat with backhoe. The dash lights and glow plug work but no attempt to start when key turned to start. I noticed the seat safety wire had been crimped in the seat. I do not have a mid-PTO but could that crimped wire be stopping the tractor from starting?

C4864 Ball joint broke off hydraulic steering cylinder. Does anyone have a parts manual or schematic that shows the part number? The top of the ball joint broke off & I can't locate it. Is the tie-end part of the cylinder rod? How does it attach?

Rake will not stay in contact with ground when pulled over routh ground. Is there an adjustment that can be made at the 3 point hitch to provide downward pressure or is an adjustment needed at the hitch controller.

Landscape rake attached to the 3point hitch of my F235D will not stay in contact with the ground. The control on the UFO lowers the unit, but when I release the control the rake raises of the ground. Has anyone had this problem? Can the UFO be disconnected and the control switched over to the lever?

Can anyone explain the differences of the 2 series? I've been told the F/FX series is wider and are more recent models.
