    Basic theft prevention

A simple hidden ignition switch, then I find two big trees spaced properly. I put my bucket all the way up and make a 5 or 6 point turn to place the tractor between the trees. I lowered the bucket wedging in down. They can't move it without cutting trees or starting the machine.

    Bush Hog violently shaking

I tweaked a blade once and it would mostly rotate, but had one spot it would stick. The blade was bent, just a little . I had to remove it to repair.... maybe should have replaced it, but I did get it straight enough to work freely.

    Buying Advice Homeowner Forklift

I have a used Clark, 3,000 pound. I'll tell you....it doesn't matter how well the gravel is packed, it's really easy to spin a tire, and when it sinks in 1/16th of an inch, you are DONE. These suckers weigh in at 6,000 pounds & they will NOT drive themselves up the tiniest of gravel inclines...

    Which jumper cables

In today's world you should consider cables with a diode so you can't accidentally reverse the polarity when jump starting. Many cars instantly cause major computer damage with even an accidental reverse bump. I personally know of two cases. One on a pick up truck, but a local wrecker service...

    Replacement seats

I've patched seats with clear Shoe-Goo. It's tough stuff. I use it for 1,000 off label reasons. That being said, Tractor supply has some seats that aren't horrible. I have yet to find any that are better than OEM. ( I did upholstery my entire career, and the molded one piece seats really can't...

OEM Tractor Oil vs Shell, Valvoline, Amsoil, etc.

Yes, a dealer may analyze your to see if it meets specs, but they can NOT void a warranty claim because you did not use "their" oil. There was a quiet court case (In the 90's?) when Bombardier said you MUST use their oil for the snowmobiles they produced. When it got in front of a judge, the...

Pictures of freeing stuck equipment with your tractor

I once left a backhoe out in the back field for 2 months waiting until it dried up. Luckily I don't need it too often! I've told my wife "You can't get a backhoe stuck, but you do make a choice of how much of a mess to leave behind".

    New Kubota Corrosion

I'm thinking this is a quality problem. I'm not trying to brag up a different brand, but here is a photo I took two minutes ago of the bucket fittings of my tractor. It's a 2016 tractor that was used only for salt spreading and snow removal before I bought it two years ago. Severe duty! You can...

2 post or 4 post vehicle lift ideas

A two post & you are always bending over locating jack points....and adjusting the height of the little posts on the arms, then hitting the post when the car/truck door opens. Don't forget about balance point worries. Next time.... I will have a four post with a rolling bridge jack for wheel...

What is the oddest machine you have worked on or operated

I owned a 1946 Allis-Chalmer tractor. It might have been a 1944. Even though I had the serial number, the factory couldn't tell me. They said they didn't keep that close a record....they were the same so who cared? It was a crank start, and took a trick to start it quickly. No one wanted to...

Guy is renting out his tractor for 6 month period

I had a friend that rented a SeaDoo for a day. During rental the engine came un-done. He thought the renter should pay to rebuild the engine. As a friend I explained that the renter did not owe him a new engine, the renter owed him the value of the used engine. I told him at the time the...

    Fighting 'Solar Farm' Installation

This happened in my town. A landowner was upset that he was losing his view and his property would lose value. The town said.... "Your property values going down is not fact, it's your opinion." They then showed study after study that showed less than 2% of properties lost value. The other 98%...
