OK, guys, tell me I am nuts. Echo Pole Saw

Was looking at the Echo Pole Chain saws at the local HD yesterday. $350. Does anyone have any experience with these? Echo seems to be a good brand in standard chain saws, string trimmers, and such, but I have never heard any comments on their pole saws. Search on here only turned up Stilh pole saws.

    Little House Fire in Texas

OK, us Texans are always accused of trying to do things bigger than life. Well yesterday they had a little house fire in Dallas. Seems someone's little of cottage of a mere 70,000 sq ft (yes seventy) burned to the ground. Had been under construction for 7 yrs and was only weeks from completion...

    Simple Pleasures

Amazing how grandkids can bring out the kid in you and make you remember and appreciate the simple things in life. My son wanted to take my 3 yr. old grandson camping, so 2 weekends ago we went up to the "farm" and pitched a tent down by the creek. Have a shop there but no house yet. We cooked...

    Wicker Furniture

OK, all you do-it-yourselfers. My wife bought some wicker furniture for the patio. Protected from rain and direct sunlight, but exposed to the environment otherwise. It is finished in a natural (?) brown color, maybe some kind of varnish. She wants to know what to put on it to further protect it...

    Implement width

Curiosity question. My toys are 30 miles away so I can't run out and measure them. On a 6' (or any width) rotary cutter or mower, is it 6' blade tip to tip (cutting width) or 6' deck width? How about a tiller? Is it 6' till<font color=red>ing</font color=red> width or 6' till<font...

    Mesquite TX Antique Tractor Show

Anyone ever been to the antique tractor show held in Mesquite Texas? It is this weekend and I was considering going but would like to know if it is worth the drive.

    **** e-mail

How do I get rid of it? I have always been very careful not to open e-mail when I did not recognize the name. I would simply delete it. But I accidentally opened one whose text left no doubt it was advertising a **** site. It had a link which it said you could click on if you had received this...

    Poles for a pole barn

My better half is after me to get her a horse. I will need to build a pole barn for it (them?). What should I use for poles? I have heard that horses will chew on treated wood post. What alternatives are there? I considered square metal tubing but then you have a potential rusting problem at...

    Forks-quick, cheap, simple

If you have an older tractor without quick attach FEL and would like some forks, here is an idea. I needed something to haul logs, brush, lumber, etc. I have never had need to carry pallets, so I was not concerned about fork spread. About $15 and less than 2 hours and I had made what I needed...

    Tiller on a 950

Anyone here using a tiller on a JD 950? I am considering buying one. My tire width is about 66" so I would need a 6' tiller to cover my tire tracks. I could get a smaller offset, but then I would have to go the same direction every pass. Not all that bad, but a nuisance. The 950 has 27 PTO hp...

    JD 950 Hour Meter

I seem to remember someone here recently looking for an hour meter for a 950. Just happen to notice one on Ebay now starting at $19.95.

    One BIG Tractor

Anyone see the Big Bud tractors on Classic Tractors on RFD-TV? 1000+ HP pulling an 80' cultivator. Said they could do 400-500 acres on a normal day or 800-900 if they really pushed it. Amazing machines.

    Rusted Wheel

The hole around the valve stem on the front wheel of my JD 950 is rusted out quite a bit. I have heard that the fix is to weld some metal backing to the inside of the wheel. Anyone ever done this? Do you just form a piece of sheet metal to the inside and weld around the edges and drill out a new...
