John Deere 2020 - Gas - Does not Stay running

Yes it is. Zenith is telling me it is PN A75-32 in their records. I have a new one coming in the mail just to rule that out. Lead wire is getting 12v.

John Deere 2020 - Gas - Does not Stay running

Hello, I am working on a JD 2020 with a gas engine that has a marvel schebler TSX904 carb. This carb has a fuel solenoid on the bowl, maybe for a main jet shut off. This solenoid is no longer actuating but it is free and clear. So, as a quick fix, I put a piece of stainless wire in the port to...

    International 454 - With Loader

Thanks for the comments! The 454 in the top of the post is a gasser. For my knowledge base, I'd rather stick with gas. At least for my first utility tractor. Time is always a factor! I CAN work on stuff and fix it, but with two young kids that is hard to do nowadays. But I am confident this...

    International 454 - With Loader

I went and looked at it today. It has good bones but it's a little rough around the edges. Everything checked out with the drive train. It has some typical old tractor leaking, but nothing to cause a steady drip. The loader pivot joints are all pretty worn. It doesn't appear to have any...

    International 454 - With Loader

Hello, I am looking for a decent tractor with a loader in the $5k range. I know that is a lot to ask for with used tractor price now, but I am willing to wrench on something and put in some elbow grease. Came across this International 454 with a loader, brush hog, back blade, and 3pt hitch forks...

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Where did you find the new rim? Both of mine are rusted out. May try to patch weld them too. Thanks!

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

What weight do you use in the GL5? Looks like the common stuff is 75W-90 or 80W-90.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

I wonder how this compares to the "Universal Tractor Fluid" found at TSC? That stuff is $100 versus the $50 for a 5 gallon bucket. You are right, the manual says SAE 90. Some forums say the other stuff is fine too.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Did you cut the fluid with diesel fuel or run that straight?

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

I am glad you said something... Finally getting around to doing this. I pulled the drain plugs, first water, then milkshake! Reading some other threads, guys cleaned it out with kerosene through the observation plate. My dad wondered if running regular ATF through it would flush it out before...

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Thanks for sharing and good looking tractor! I may have to replace a rim or both in the not too distant future. Both of these are leaking a little fluid. I imagine with some new fluids and a tune-up, this tractor will run just fine.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Why run away? I always hear great things about these tractors. The plan is to get it running enough to do minor 3pt work with it. I plan to get a newer tractor for loader work, that loader may end up in the scrap. Just curious why! Thanks!

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Yes it is, my title is not correct since knowing the serial number and retrieving the tractor. Got this one for free as well. Runs well after a carb rebuild and oil change. Next I need to clean the old tank and check the hydraulic fluid for water. They are pretty simple and easy to work on.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

I thought about cleaning it up and clear coating the sheet metal. Just to make it smooth and keep the same look.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

It is back home with 3/4 tires holding air. Runs well too! All the fluids should be gone through, already did an oil change. It's running on a auxiliary tank until the stock one is cleaned out.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Well it's now in my barn! The owner cleared the trees, vines, and brush away from it then kindly pulled it out with his jeep. It is indeed an 8N and not a 9N like I had thought. The loader has a tag that says Wagner Ironworks. Once I got it home, I took the jungle gym off to focus on the...

    Ford 4000 Pricing and Advice

Good point on the greenery! I would go take it look at it. About 2 hrs from me. I will call to get more pics out of him and see if it's 3 or 4 cylinder.

    Ford 4000 Pricing and Advice

Thank you. I was reading on the Tractor data website and it says they only came with 3 cylinder gas or diesel? This has a gas engine but I did not ask about cylinder count. Interesting.

    Ford 4000 Pricing and Advice

Hello, I am on the hunt for a reasonably priced tractor with a loader bucket...in 2022 that is easier said than done. My budget being only $5K I am looking for something older that needs some work. Willing to put in some time to make it right. I found this Ford 4000 on Craigslist and spoke with...

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

After looking at my local market in Michigan, $1500 will get you a running unit with faded and rough body. $2500 would get one with decent paint and running well, and that may even include a back blade or simple attachment if you are lucky. Well I am learning the resale value of these tractors...

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Ya it is all about how someone values their time. Not a money making project for sure. Thank you kindly for your input.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Good to know! I always thought it was a cool look but did not think about the power steering. Who made a good tractor with a loader that can be had reasonably now? This would be for a fun hobby tractor to mess around with and use around the property occasionally.

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Yes, this would be more a labor of love than a means to save money and practical effort. I have full confidence in my abilities to pull it out and do the work, but I can also find a running and driving one for about $2000 or less here in Michigan. So maybe that alone should tell me something! I...

Ford 9N - Retrieve it or Leave it?

Hello Ford Tractor Experts, A friend of mine is willing to give up a Ford tractor that has been sitting in his field for many years. It is about a 3 hour drive for me to retrieve it, and maybe a few more hours worth of chain saw work to "unearth" it. He sent me this photo not too long ago. It...
