I purchased a new John Deere carburetor and as soon as it’s delivered I’ll install and see if that fixes the issue. Thanks to all who helped by providing their thoughts and experiences. I’ll let you know the results. Gary

Yes but I have to use the chock to keep it running but still it will only run for a very short time and then will not start at all.

I did this already because I thought the new plug I put in I had the gap wrong. Still going to replace spark plug wire.

I just ordered a new carburetor and gas cap. I hope one of these fix this issue. I’m also going to replace my spare plug wire just to complete my rebuild. I checked buying a new tractor but this one is a great asset and does everything I need with still solid parts replacement.

Actually your correct but the original factory carburetor that I replaced did the same thing. To me it seems like the carb is working but it stops getting pulled into the manifold or just maybe my spare plug wire i bad when it gets hot??

I’ve tried all of this with a new carburetor, as that what I though was the issue, fuel flow but I’m getting good flow to the carburetor and in fact when this happens I get fuel from the carburetor drain line flowing out of the carburetor onto the tractor frame which is dangerous on a hot engine.
