    20 inch chainsaw recommendation

I went thru a similar decision a couple years ago when I got tired of fighting to start my Stihl ms290. I went with the Echo 4910 (501p- basically the same saw ). Great saw. After running 6-8 thanks is had thru it to break it in, open up the exhaust (very simple), pull the tuning limiting tabs...

    Bulk Diesel Tank

That Vevor setup looks nice. I use a 55 gallon drum and a rotary hand pump I put together for diesel a couple of years ago. It's not this clean any longer...🤷‍♂️ I want to do something similar for ethanol free gas for the mowers/splitter/generator/etc but I just don't want to spend the $ on...

    Flow Control on Well Head

I also use the cycle stop valve setup with 4.5 gallon pressure tank. It works fantastic to hold a steady pressure. Mine is mostly for irrigating the garden and livestock tanks/water at ranch out buildings. I start the garden sprinklers and the pressure holds steady at about 50 for as long as...

    Oil Change intervals?

I was perusing the "today's posts", saw this thread and thought: Here we go!! I was not disappointed. "Oil is cheap - I change it before every use!!" ;) (Slight exaggeration) "I go 10 years between changes!!" (again - slight exaggeration) and everything in between. Haha - I go by the...

Weak trailer brakes. Sure could use some ideas here!

When I bought my 15 y/o cattle trailer last year (double axle trailer with brakes on both), I bit the bullet and bought pre-assembled self-adjusting kits for each of the brakes that included the backing plate with all the hardware already installed. The brakes on the trailer looked like the...

Angle Grinder(s) - Lost Their Smoke

Wow. I have 2 older Dewalt grinders, but I've thought of getting a couple of cheap ones to hold different disks on so I don't have to swap them out. That Wen looks like a great option. $23 right now.

    Question about using a stabilizer?

I've just started putting E0 in my small engines. Walmart about 30 minutes away carries 87 octane E0. I purchase 10 gallons at a time when I'm up that way. For the 2 cycle engines, I go to another station that sells 91 octane E0 for a stupid $ per gallon. The chansaws/blowers don't go...

    Looking for a log splitter

Yep - I do the same - smaller pieces horizontal and larger (~18+") roll to the splitter and slide them on the end plate. Split in half then you can take pie slices out one after the other on one half as you slightly rotate it and split. It makes nice consistent split pieced. When I'm working...

    Looking for a log splitter

What are you going to be splitting? I have Live Oak. It's one of hardest wood in North America. I went with a 37 ton Northern Tool splitter and I've been happy. The price jump from ~25/27 ton to ~35/37 ton is a pretty big price jump. 4" piston on the ~25 ton to a 5" piston on the ~35 ton...

    Pricing pallet forks

I own that setup with longer forks. They are solid. I run them on a Kubota 5240 with the 854 loader. I also use that frame with a bale spear. Again - it's solid. I'd look at longer than 36" forks, though

PTO Chipper Advice -- maneuverability and center of gravity concerns

While I'll agree that the Vermeer is a better unit, you're the first person I've heard that called the 8M (or 8H) units a 'tin can'. The 8H weighs in at over 900 lbs. Plus, I think the Vermeer requires at least 28hp....

PTO Chipper Advice -- maneuverability and center of gravity concerns

You definitely want a rotating discharge chute. Even if only to spread the chips around while you are working so you don't end up with a big pile in one place if you aren't collecting them for later use. As for low center of gravity - I think most will have about the same. Just keep it as low...

Better drill for hard use? Milwaukee M18 "2904" or ...?

You guys are wrong. Ryobi, Milwaukee, and Ridgid are all made by TTI. Most people that review cordless tools show that Milwaukee and Ryobi perform pretty closely the same with the same level of tool. Ryobi is less expensive by quite a bit. For someone that doesn't make a living with their...

'Corner Crossing' at checkerboard Fed/Private survey corners may be a protected right - or not

I don't think this case is the same. These guys crossed over a 4-way corner fence post from public land to public land. They never set foot on any private land according to the fences. That's a tough sell saying that if I wave my hand over the fence over your property that I'm trespassing...

    Time to start the garden...

Wish we could plant citrus but north Texas just gets too cold unless I put them in containers and bring them in and out in the middle of winter... Still might do that. - We're in zone 7 and most citrus are good for zone 8 and higher.. Even the new hybrids... This what I'd try Texas Superstar®

    UTV's and ATV's general discussion.

That's why I bought 10 gauge connectors. The Gator's alternator is either 40 or 55 amps so everything keeps up. You can definitely tell a difference spraying if you have the motor off vs on. All in all the setup works great.

    UTV's and ATV's general discussion.

Most of the bigger Northstar I believe use a 5.5gpm NSQ pump that's rated at 17 amps at 12 volts. I have one and use the 5.5 gpm boom-less northstar sprayer with my JD Gator. I installed an SAE connector directly to the battery to make attaching and disconnecting easier. I also use a 60Gallon...

    PTO won't engage

Also - if you have an implement attached and it's not working - make sure the shear pin didn't break. I spent about an hour once trying to figure out why my PTO wasn't engaging only to find out that the PTO was fine and the shear pin had broken.

    Chipper recommendation

Just realize ash has a pH of about 10 and will raise the PH in your soil. That's not something everyone wants. Only add it of the pH of your soil is 6 or less and you aren't planting acid-living soil plants - aka hydrangeas or blueberries.

bale spear attachment to forklift frame

Pallet forks are tough to use unloading and loading a trailer. If you are just picking them up from the ground, then they will work ok. I bought my spear after having to unload a 20 bales from a trailer. The spear is way easier.

bale spear attachment to forklift frame

I have the Titan forks with the spear receiver welded on. While not the most convenient option to install and remove the forks to use the spear, it's a well built setup. I purchased the spear from vevor.com later. I think its the same one Titan sells. (Note - the one I bought from vevor came...

Gas string trimmer aka weed eater recommendations wanted

I'll give my 2 cents. Echo or Stihl - they are both quality products. Echo will give you a 5 year warranty and they are generally cheaper. I own both brands of chainsaw and they both sell quality products. Weight matters. They get heavy after awhile. Many people here (and all over) own the...

    Home weather station suggestions

I've gone through a few years back - None lasted more than a year or 2 until I ended up spending more than I wanted on a Davis Instruments Vantage Vue. This was probably 10 years ago. It's still going. Clean it and swap out the battery every couple years. It has exceptional range and fast...

Tahoe diesel claims 80k payoff in diesel fuel economy

Something else to keep in mind is that 3.0 GM diesel requires an oil pump replacement at 150k miles. That requires dropping the transmission (and transfer case of 4wd). Gonna be expensive.

Tahoe diesel claims 80k payoff in diesel fuel economy

When I lived in Denver and had my old Ford 7.3 diesel, the best mileage I got was driving in the mountains. I gained more coasting downhill then I lost going uphill. That probably has a lot to do with it.

    Chain/Drag Harrow

I know that this is an old thread, but I have a question. I 'inherited' an old Fuerst drag harrow. It comes with an old 3 pt. boom but I'm confused on the top link. How would I attach it on the top link. I'm fairly new to the tractor world, so this might be a basic question. Is there a...
