Grease - is there no better way? Can we talk about this?

I'm a machinist also. I see a lot of equipment come in the shop to be reworked that looks like it was greased when put in new, then never again. Just came in, a 1 3/4" shaft that is near worn in half.

    Ceramic coating for mower deck

Masscity, I have since used Fluid film under the deck. The ceramic (wax like thin coat coating) worked like magic. It didn't hold up very long though. The fluid film is working fine for protection, but I liked the ceramic better. But I'm not taking the deck off every 3 or 4 mowing's.

    Ceramic coating for mower deck

It looks I have to eat some crow. 1st pic is before mowing( 4th or 5th time mowing) 2nd is after. Not much difference. But I did mow when it was wet. Maybe this is why I have so much build up now. I swear, when I first mowed- nothing there! 2nd time- nothing! 3rd time a little bit sticking. I'll...

    Ceramic coating for mower deck

I bought it from Amazon COLLINITE INSULATOR WAX. I used a knotted wire brush on my grinder to knock as much of the old grass and old coating as I could. Harbor Freight has some wire wheels I used also. I was at it for a good while getting the bottom as clean as I could. I had used brush on...

    Ceramic coating for mower deck

I thought I'd share this. I bought some ceramic coating after talking to a young fellow at work. I cleaned my mower deck and applied it underneath. I was amazed the first time mowing! NO stuck grass!!! Absolutely none!!! I've mowed 4 times now and only have a tiny bit the size of a pinky finger...

How to get this %$#&% stump out???

I had a few right up against the house foundation. I cut down most of what was there, left a foot or more to chain onto. I used a large come along strapped to a large tree at the base of it. I'd go out and give it a pull once or twice a day, after a few days or more," poof" the roots came out.

    SSQA issues

I bought this exact SSQA w/ the 3/8 plate. I have about a 1/4" gap at the bottom. The same 1/4" gap with a new skid steer bucket. I'm going to tack in a plate to fill that gap. I'll measure mine and see if I have the same dimensions.

T7 SSQA, 9" hoe bucket and tie rod ends DIY

I had a few asking about the SSQA I put on myT7. I drew a better version of what I did on my white board. A added bonus is dimensions for the hoe attachment plate(1/2"). I made some hoe plates, drilling them, then using the big saw at work, cut them out. It should be 6 5/8 not 6 3/8.

T7 SSQA, 9" hoe bucket and tie rod ends DIY

I finished the hoe ditch bucket. Next is forks and a grapple. ( first picture it's tacked, fully welded all around) I'm back and forth to use the grapple on the bucket or with the forks. I think I may make it bolt on or use 2" receivers to mount it, then I could swap between bucket or forks...

T7 SSQA, 9" hoe bucket and tie rod ends DIY

I have a 2007 T7 with a Kubota diesel. I bought this from a rental center, so a few issue's with it, not bad. First thing I replaced the old tie rod ends with heim joints I had laying around. These didn't have a zerk fitting, I turned the inside 90 deg then drilled and tapped 1/4-28. You can buy...

    At Witt’s End!

That doesn't look like fun. I think you better call up some friends. A machine shop should be able to turn a new shaft from high strength steel. I think the housing can be ground out and welded back.

    Trailer build

When I use tubing on a trailer, I make sure there's a way for water to drain. I was given a trailer with a tube frame, there was a LOT of water trapped the the tubes. I notch the bottom ends just a little before welding.

Anyone buy or using the Fluid Film spray gun?

Napa just had a sell, I bought a 5 gal bucket for 180.00. I still need to buy a gun, or I may fart around and make my own. Although 46 bucks for the Woolwax isn't a bad price. I'm not going to spend 100.00 for a gun. I'm thinking of making a siphon gun, just thinking for now.

Need simpler ideas to make this is old trailer dump again.

I have a older hydraulic power unit that I would sell. I have 50.00 in it. The control valve is attached to the pump, push of power up, pull for gravity down. You would just need a cylinder. I can send a picture if you might be interested in it. I've built two dump trailers, and several others.

    home shop lathe

Way back in senior year, we got to tour Monarch in Sidney, Ohio. The floor was interesting, 4x4's on end. You could see where a casting was dropped, and new 4x4's were put in. Good machines, to bad they shut the doors.

When I was shopping for a tractor/loader I looked at RK hard. Great prices, but service was iffy. Then I ran across a web site about all the problems they were having with their tractors. That did it for me. Rk is 1 1/2hr away from me. i never could talk to a guy in service. so, nope.

    home shop lathe

I bought a Precision Mathews lathe two-three yrs ago. 14x40, 2" bore, DRO's, variable speed. The cost has gone up. You can find good, low cost lathes around. Just a waiting period to find one. I'm very happy with mine, and Matt is really easy guy to work with. I always hated the small bore...
