    snowmobiles

I just found this old Yamaha last week. It was left in the backwoods of my property that we bought a few years back. It looks to be pretty well complete, not sure what size it is. Bonus is that I found an old disc close by as well. I might take some time to pull them out of the woods this spring.

    Door opener problem

Just built a house with attached garage. 3 big, heavy garage, doors. 2 of them are 16’ high. I too wanted the jackshaft openers. They delivered tee bar units. I was ticked off as I already installed all the wiring for the jackshaft units. They subsequently sent me one jackshaft unit which...

    The Thievin' Bas*****

I feel your pain, same thing happened to me when we bought our property 5 years ago. Without going into to much detail, the scum bag was caught and spent time in prison. I have a 1000 ft -plus long drive way and people know not to drive down it unless invited. If they make it past my two...

    Rotary Phase Converters - revisited

I have a few machine tools that require 3 phase. The smaller stuff, Bridgeport mill and Clausing lathe, both run on a static converter. Drawback is you only can run one machine at a time and you loose a bit of power. Neither of which is a problem for me as I don’t push the machines that hard...

    Attached GARAGE (homeowner) thoughts

My garage has three overhead doors. 16’ wide x 10’ high where I park my 3500 and the wife parks her jeep. Next stall has a 14’ wide x 16’ high for my boat, next stall has a 12’ wide x 16’ high. Heated garage, expensive doors!

Need some suggestions on how to fix water getting into my new building.

Possibly seal up the 1’ over hang areas using rubber roofing membrane material. You would have to get access to the wall as you would want to go up the wall a bit with it and drap it over and down the slab. This stuff is typically used on commercial roofs. You would need to install a metal...

Need some suggestions on how to fix water getting into my new building.

On the two sides that have the 1’ offset, could you have a sheet metal shop fab up a flashing that reaches out and over the slab and have it pitch up a bit on the wall? It might look a bit funky but eliminating the 1’ lip for water to set on is definitely something you want to fix.

Need some suggestions on how to fix water getting into my new building.

I had a pool installed when we lived in AZ. The perimeter was concrete, sloping away from the pool. They installed drain channels to direct this water out and away from the pool. They had plastic grid covers on them as well. when I recently built our new house, I looked at garage floor drains...

Here’s one I made using an old auger and remnants from a bowling alley. I inlayed a bit of walnut as an accent. My Dad always said, “don’t throw nothing out”. So I don’, never now what you can turn scrap into!

    House framer/builders, Roof question(s)

If you stay with the same pitch on both the house and garage, the house ridge line will be higher due to the width of the structure. I added hip roofs all around as it looked a bit better to my eye but gables would work as well. Scissor trusses can be designed to give you the interior pick you...

Non CDL F250 towing 12K trailer across state lines ?

I went thru something similar regarding the need for a cdl when I purchased a large boat. I got quite a few different answers even from the folks who are enforcing….. I called the Wisconsin dmv. They told me that under 26000 lbs, don't worry. When I pressed them for written confirmation, they...

    Glulam Beam - Checking Problem

i wouldn’t let it go. That beam should not have left the manufacturing plant. By your picture, it appears you have separation in more than a few joints. I would contact the material supplier. Your building inspector will have comments. Removal looks to be a real *****. Possibly add plate...

Dealer markup on BH92 is much higher than online configurator price

I just took delivery of the same model tractor. not far off from your price. Any way you look at it, still lots of money in my book. I starting dealing on my tractor last fall. 2022 pricing, dealer did not want a down payment which made me nervous as hell. I offered to put money down and he...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

The below is what I went thru a few years back when I bought a boat and trailer. Regarding a cdl, I am learning that there is one hell uv a gray area. I called the Wisconsin dmv.
