Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Sorry to take so long to reply - other stuff took my attention away from the mini-ex. But I do have an update - as I went to try to check on what the problem might be, I realized that the thing turns pretty well (one tread faster than the other, or treads running in opposite directions) if and...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Hello, all. I've been using my mini excavator around the farm, primarily for trenching, which has worked very well, but it's had some eccentricities. I've been able to work around them, mostly, but it's exhibiting a new issue that is very puzzling. Basically, it doesn't want to engage the...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

I'm finding that sometimes my mini won't move - the tracks simply won't turn when I move the levers - but when I let the machine cool down, we're back in business. This is kind of a disturbing situation to have happen.

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

For what it's worth - and hoping to add to the general bank of knowledge here: I figured out the root of the my machine's engine fading & surging / lack of power was. It turns out that it was fuel starvation. Once my gas tank gets to be 1/3 full or less, the fuel flow is really unreliable -...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Glad to hear that it's a simple adjustment. That said... How does one go about adjusting the relief pressure? Is it going to be on the hydraulic pump? if not, then whereabouts should I look for it? and what does it look like? Many thanks in advance.

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Possibly dumb question: I started using my new HT-15 (1.5 ton unit bought off of Ebay), and the engine wants to stall out VERY easily - and the hydraulics really seem to lack power. I put a trenching bucket (8" wide) on and in digging through 6" of packed dirt it was a battle to get it moving...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

I asked further of the seller and got a resolution... he said they shipped 3 of their one-ton units and my 1.5 ton unit on the same day, and the guy in the warehouse forgot to change the weight. That actually makes a lot of sense, since they did sell a bunch of their smaller ones in the past...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Yes, that's exactly the problem. a 1.5 ton machine would weigh in at 3000 pounds. But the shipment apparently only weights 2,075. Which causes me to wonder if they've shipped me the right machine. I get that I could put it on a trailer and drive it to a scale, and I might need to do that...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

yep, that's exactly the one that I got. Seller is "peaktop". English is decidedly not their first language. I asked if they were certain they shipped the right unit, and explained that the weight was off. They said "yep, it's on the truck." I'll try asking again more specifically and see...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Honestly, they kind of did... the 1.5 ton units are significantly more money because they come with uprated hydraulics and the extra weight provides (or is alleged to provide) additional stability, which is kind of a thing for me because I'm going to be working a lot on sloping terrain.

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

I just ordered a 1.5ton machine from an eBay seller... and got the shipping notice that lists the weight as 2,075lbs. Given that I don't have a scale handy that reads over 3000 pounds, is there a convenient way to know that I am getting what I ordered?

That is an incredibly kind offer. Thank you. I'll probably just take the plunge and see how it goes... and may be in touch. Hopefully I can pay you in wine 🍷🍇

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

My apologies - total newbie question. Thinking of picking up a 13.5HP gas-powered 1.5ton mini excavator. I'm on the Central Coast of California - San Luis Obispo area. I'm looking at one of the many that's available from local US stock via the interwebs... but I have no idea where I'd get the...
