Very interesting. I would have agreed with EddieWalker before I read your post.

    Concrete anchors

The concrete screws hold better than a wedge anchor. Keep in mind if you do use them and you screw them in and out often enough in the same hole, they will start holding less and less because it wears the sides of the hole. If you need to take them out often a threaded insert is your best option.

How do farmers make any money?

The herd I managed was just under 200 cows. Here in Canada animal welfare is a big deal, partly brought on by animal rights groups sneaking around on farms and looking for bad situations they can put exploit. It was a naturally ventilated barn with no fans. It worked good down to 10 degrees F...

Where did scc and bacteria count have to be to get the premium and how many years ago di you quit? I have experience as a herd manager but never a owner and I am still interested in dairy.

How do farmers make any money?

You didn't milk 80 cows with that thing did you? Did your cows go from tiestall to freestall? That's a tough transition. A saying for dairy farmers: Beef guys might wear the nice hat but dairy farmers are the real cowboys.

How many cows did you milk when you were still in the business?

How do farmers make any money?

From a personal perspective I would rather just pay more for milk, simple because I don't consume much. From a farmers perspective I would almost think I would prefer to be able to make a living without assistance. I suppose if it didn't work you wouldn't be doing it.

How do farmers make any money?

I feel there is no other livelihood where you can feel the Lord's Hand on you successes and failures so profoundly as in farming. How do farmers make any money?

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't paying so little for milk still end up costing the consumers when dairy farmers that can't make it have to be subsidized.

Not just equipment, land costs are always going up as well. The big difference is land doesn't depreciate in value.

How do farmers make any money?

I worked on a dairy farm for a few years and your posts sums it up. On a 200 cow dairy the minimum amount of work a day that we got by with was 2 people working from 4 in the morning till 10 at night. Now they have robotic milkers on the smaller farms, but mine guess is what they save in labour...

    Got RTV Snow Blower Home

You made the right choice. Blowing snow is the way to go, it seems to get rid of the snow, where pushing it leaves ridges of snow that are rock hard after a week and the roadway ends up becoming narrower and narrower. I will note wet snow can be pretty hard to blow as well. I have been thinking...

    Interesting article

Whether seeding, spraying, or fertilizing eliminating overlap saves money. A GPS controlled machine can cut overlap on the ends down to virtually zero where a manually controlled machine will have to overlap by a foot at the very least to eliminate misses. A foot on 1 hundred passes is 100...

I think Trad is right. The thing about concrete is if you mess it up you can't fix it anymore.
