    How to level undulating land?

I'd start with this, then transition to a disc followed by a chain harrow if desired, multiple passes will likely be necessary. I don't think a plow will be all that helpful. 300 yd of topsoil should be plenty, you may find it necessary to refill areas as they settle.

    L4060 seat question

I'm in excellent health, and if I did have a health issue I wouldn't be addressing it in a tractor forum.

    L4060 seat question

Been looking at an L4060, the standard suspension seat doesn’t suspend me at all (240lbs) with the springs maxed out. The dealer suggests upgrading to an air ride set, it appears that the seat upgrade doesn’t support unattended PTO operations. I use my chipper a lot so that‘s an issue, putting...

    MF 1840M Thoughts

The boomers were "roomy" but I found that the pedal configuration made it difficult to maneuver my leg on entry and exit when sitting in them. Thus, not crazy about committing to a $45K purchase without sitting in an 1840 or 1835 cab first. It comes with an Iseki engine.

John Deere vs New Holland Compact/Utility

Looks like the NH is the winner, more HP and weight, both of which would serve well for your intended use. I suspect that the JD will have better resale value. Is the Workmaster series rebranded LS like the Boomers, if so then I’d wonder about long term parts availability. Personally I’d...

    MF 1840M Thoughts

The 1840M and L3560 have nearly identical price quotes for nearly identical configurations, one rear remote, 3rd function, FEL and cab. The 1840M has a radio, air ride seat, and the dealer includes ballasting in the price. OTOH the Kubota will likely have better resale, non-turbo engine, HST+...

    MF 1840M Thoughts

On the advice of @Tractorable I checked out the Kubota L3560, the dealer price was comparable to the MF 1840M and they are very close in terms of specs. Unfortunately the dealer also has a couple L4060 for just a bit more which my wife likes more, probably a bit much for my current needs, but...

Anyone go from gas to electric, then back to gas?

I'm reverting to gas, corded or pneumatic tools. I don't use them professionally, I avoid the cost to replace batteries periodically as well as dealing with a dead battery when I need to use it. The cost of a new Milwaukee battery will buy a fair amount of gas or electricity.

    Tractor Insurance

Very timely thread as Im actively shopping for a new CUT with a cab. One dealer said they had an insurance company (maybe affiliated with MF) that offered a policy that would cover losses due to fire, rollover, glass breakage, and probably other mishaps as well. The dealer said most homeowner’s...

    MF 1840M Thoughts

Looking for a new tractor to replace my Kubota B7800, something in the 40HP range and with a cab. Have considered a Kubota L4060, JD 3039, Boomer 40/50, and MF 1840M and at this point, the MF 1840M is the leader in the clubhouse. It comes well-equipped and is considerably less expensive than...

    Turf to R4

I have turf tires on my B7800 (F: 24x8.5-14, R: 13.6-16) and am thinking of converting to R4 as my current tires are nearing the end of their life. Will shifting to R4s entail new rims as well? If I'm reading the manual correctly for R4 they recommend a 23x8.50-14 for the front and a 12.4-16...

    B7800 Block Heater

Am considering installing a block heater in my B7800, from what I can tell the install looks straightforward--any tricks to things to be aware of before I start? Thanks in advance. Pat

    Wallenstein Question

I'm considering purchasing a Wallenstein BX42 to use on my B7800. I'm wondering how this chipper does on the lighter stuff, like brush, or tree/bush trimmings (not dried leaves)? I've seen a Woods 5000 in action and it does a pretty respectable job on the small stuff--though it is more...

Box Scraper  Price Check--Woods Box Blade

A local dealer is quoting a price of $812 for a new Woods GB60 Box Blade. Does this seem reasonable? As a check another dealer is selling 60" Landpride for $1100. thanks Pat

    UDT or Super UDT?

I'm getting ready to change the transmission and hydraulic fluid in my Kubota and I have 2 gal of UDT on hand, I estimate needing 5 gal total. The manual calls for Super UDT is "super" much different than "regular" UDT? Judging from the price it's nearly 2 times better  Thanks Pat

Buying Advice  Yet another advice question 2920 vs 7800

I'm looking to upgrade from my BX2200, it's primary use will be mowing, though I want an FEL for spreading mulch, fill dirt and general chores around the house. These two models are priced within $500 of each other at a local dealer, both equipped with a 60" MMM and FEL. In my view the 2920 as...
