Kubota broken bleed valve (I think)

Today I had to bleed the fuel system on my Kubota L1802DT (D1102) and noticed a problem with the bleed valve. I think it is missing the knob off the end? Does it look broken to anybody else? Does anybody know where I might get a new one, online if possible. The Kubota folk here are real nasty...

Kubota won't start & puffs blue smoke

I have a Kubota L1802DT (D1102 engine) that has just started giving me a bit of trouble. On 2 occasions recently when starting it has gone to full revs for about 5 secounds before returning to idle. The first time it did it, I thought I must have had my foot on the throttle, but the second...

    Kubota L1802DT won't start

I have somehow broken my tractor and it won't start. It's a 20hp 3 cyl diesel kubota engine from around 1985. It's a grey market import and was completely rebuilt before I got it about 4 years ago. Anyway it has been operating flawlessly, untill I did some work on it. I parked it into the...

How heavy is your ballast box?

I'm getting close to the end of my FEL build, and I will need to build a balast box for the rear. The question is how heavy does it need to be? The tractor is a Kubota L1802DT which is about 20HP 4WD to give you some idea. Also do you guys just hang them from the 3PT arms or do you lower it...

    Bigger Hydraulic Pump

I have a L1802DT that I am currently building a FEL for. I intend to run it from the standard engine driven pump that supplies the 3PL. I am also thinking about adding power steering. With all this extra stuff to run, I'm wondering if the pump will have the volume to cope. So, Is it possible...

    Changing Hydraulic pump

I have a L1802DT that I am currently building a FEL for. I intend to run it from the standard engine driven pump that supplies the 3PL. I am also thinking about adding power steering. With all this extra stuff to run, I'm wondering if the pump will have the volume to cope. So, Is it possible...

Spray Painting for the complete novice

As my loader project gets closer to completion, I'm now starting to think about how to paint it. In the past the only spray painting I've ever done is out of a can, so using a compressor and spray gun is completely new to me. The equipment I have is a small compressor (about 90PSI) and a spray...

    Looking to buy a BandSaw

FOr many years I have been using a grinder style chop saw to cut all my steel. The old cheapish unit I had served me extremely well until one day flames shot out the end and that was it. I replaced it with a Makita (made in china) unit but it just dosen't cut as well as my old one. When cutting...

    FEL Geometry

I am looking for some advice on dump and rollback angles for my home made loader. After searching around a bit it seems that an average dump angle id 45deg and rollback about 27 deg Firstly does this sound correct? Also is it correct that the rollback angle is measured with the bucket flat on...

Turning an AC stick welder into DC

Are there add on rectifiers that can be bought to turn an AC welder into a DC one? Is it that simple, or is there a catch? Cheers Rohan

    Loader Quick Attach Systems

In building my own loader, I'm starting to think about my options for a quick attach system for the bucket. That thread can be found here Does anybody recommend one system over another? Also if anybody has some photo's that would be great as well. BTW I looked at using a standard skidsteer...

    My Home built Loader

A few people here have been very helpful with answering various questions about my FEL project, so I thought I would post a few pictures of the work so far. Normally I like to complete the project, then show it to the world, that way if it is a complete disaster, I can toss it in the corner...

Selecting the right joystick for my loader

As I have mentioned in other threads, I am building a loader for my tractor. I had previously asked about which control valves to buy, and I had settled on using a joystick (for lift & curl) with a solenoid valve to convert the curl to 4 in 1 open close. Then I found a thread on regenerative...

Why Do Modern Loaders Have Their Lift Cylinders Upside Down?

I have noticed that the trend these days is for loaders to have their lift cylinders upside down (so to speak) that is with the ram at the bottom. Is there any particular reason for this? The only thing I can come up with is it makes the plumbing a bit neater. Any thoughts Cheers Rohan

    Front End Loader Leveling Arms?

As I'm currently underway with my FEL build, I have noticed that some FEL's have a second arm above the main one that connects to the curl cylinders via a pivot. I can see that it is designed to keep the bucket at the same angle while lifting. My question is, are these any good in practice...

How hard is it to replace seals in a cylinder?

I realise this is a pretty open ended question, but I thought I would ask it anyway. I have a backhoe of questionable parentage that I have adapted to my Kubota. It all works fine, however most of the cylinders are leaking somewhat and one of the stabaliser ones needs to be constantly reset...

    Why are loader arms tapered?

In designing my home built loader for my tractor, I noticed that most loader arms are tapered. Does anybody know why? The only thing I can come up with is it makes the connection points easier to manufacture as the swivel point is narrower. I intend to do the same thing, if only to make it...

    Which valve for my loader

I originally posted this over in the Hydraulics forum, but got no replies, so I thought I would try here. I am building a front end loader for my Kubota tractor and I need some advice on which control valves to use. As I am also building a 4 in 1 bucket I will need an additional double acting...

    Which valves for my loader

I am building a front end loader for my Kubota tractor and I need some advice on which control valves to use. As I am also building a 4 in 1 bucket I will need an additional double acting valve to control the open & close of the bucket. Currently I am looking at 2 joystick valves from Surplus...
