    My R3039 Mods

The HF 12" receiver tube is the one in this pic: Also got the hook you see in it (and the pin as well) from HF. Plus you can find their 20% off coupons almost everywhere you look. This one is good till the end of the month:

Must have mods or attachments for new LS.

I don't use it for moving trailers. The receiver lets me put whatever I want there in the center of the bucket: slip hook, D-ring, boom, etc.... THIS is what I use to move trailers: With the hydraulic top link I can get it under pretty much everything.

    50 Hour Service

My hydro oil only had 50 hrs on it, but it nearly 2 years old. Not a lot of heat and pressure to break it down, but quite a bit of time for it to gather moisture from our humid Southeast Texas climate. (You guys with tractors at home are lucky -- some of us have tractors at remote locations.)...

    Short Game MIA?

Short Game used to be a pretty prolific poster in the LS forum. Noticed back in November that he hadn't posted in a while so I sent him a PM. Never heard back so I looked at his TBN profile today: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/members/short-game.html No posts since June and no activity...

    Another Day of Stump Wrangling

Glad to help. The idea of using a momentary switch to divert the curl/dump circuit to operate a grapple came from the TBN hydraulics forum. Tons of good information there! My next hydraulic project might be installing a manual double-selector valve like this: It would be up high on the back...

Thinking about a LS G3038, have some questions

Certainly not the first time I've been wrong! ;-) BUT I did look before leaping: I guess that just goes to show ya can't trust the LS Tractor USA web site. But I've complained about that many times before so I won't go into it again here. Sounds like you have thought it all out and $3000...

    Dumb Question-Hydraulic Fluid

You might have better luck posting your question up in the New Holland forum. BUT, as you asked here I decided to look through my pics to if I could show you where it is on some of the LS models. Didn't have a real good shot, but you can see the knob for the hydraulic fluid dipstick through the...

What's the deal with this O-ring?

This is a pic of the rod on my FEL's left curl cylinder. What is (or was) the purpose of it? Both sides are like that.

    Grapple Bucket LS 4041H

I had a 66" single cylinder grapple and it was a bit heavy for my little S3010. Sold it and got a 48" -- MUCH better and I could lift more due to getting rid of the excess steel. There's a guy (IslandTractor) on TBN that makes a good argument that 48" is big enough for any tractor. Here's mine:

    Stump bucket

I bought one at auction a couple of years ago. I have used it some on brush and small (about 10" diameter) stumps, but haven't given it a real good work out. It worked fairly well, but I'm guessing it would work a lot better on a tractor with a little more "umph" -- I mean, it was really...

    LS Electrical Wiring Question

OK, I was WAY wrong on this. I checked it's a 6-wire connector hanging off the back of my S3010. Does anyone know what it's for? I'm guessing it must be a standardized connector for something -- maybe the backhoe previously mentioned?

    Shop manuals?

I had to pay $70 plus shipping for my S3010 manual. It came in a crappy 3-ring binder. I knew that wouldn't last long in the field so I bound it real tight with some thick adjustable binder thing I got at Office Depot: I think it's more complete than what the rest of you guys have described...

    Thanks for all your chatter!

Gary, I couldn't reply to your TBN PM -- it said you have PM turned off. Weird that it would let you send a PM while the option to receive one is disabled. Anyway, the above advice (to check the MS support link) is not bad. I still think the non-display of the photos might be because the OP...

    Thanks for all your chatter!

Yeah, I got the receiver idea from another post on TBN. I also got both of these items from Harbor Freight: Real easy to swap out to whatever you need at the time. Used the vise mount a lot when building the hoses for the diverter install.

    Thanks for all your chatter!

Maybe it is a setting, but normally if you do select NOT to load images, you can override the setting by clicking somewhere in the X. Your employer might be blocking the images, but that seems unlikely. It may be because the OP posted links to his photos from a hosting site. Can you see this one...

    New Grapple pics!

Not sure how many grapples were at that particular auction, but here are the ones sold yesterday at the Houston RB auction: Not sure what's going on (economy improving, dealers need stock, etc...), but the going prices for everything at THIS auction seemed to be MUCH higher than normal. $700...

Pushing over dying pines with FEL

Reviving this thread to let you guys know how things worked out. Ended up taking down about 10 pines last weekend. Used a both a pull line and plastic wedge on them. I did a lot of reading and video watching to get ready. Then I started out on the smaller ones to make sure I had the technique...

50 hr. Maint. - valves and head bolts

My tractor developed a pretty loud tick starting about 6 months ago. One of the 50 hr. maint. check list items in the operator's manual for my S3010 reads: "Have dealer check valve clearance and torque head bolts". The service manual I bought describes the process in detail so I did it last...

Pushing over dying pines with FEL

I lost a lot of trees on my place during our recent drought down here in south Texas. Some of the pines are over 24" in diameter at their base and NOT in a safe place. I've seen videos of people using their loader to just push over some pretty big trees. My understanding is that one of the...

    Cleaning up a PTO Cross/U-joint

Bought a used PTO post hole digger and one of the u-joints (tractor end) was missing its grease fitting. Not sure how long it has been that way, but there is dirt filling the hole where the fitting is missing. The joint still works smooth, so I know it's not too bad. I thought about replacing...

Loader LS3010 Hyd 4 in one bucket?

Earlier in this thread I said I would eventually post everything about this project in the "Hydraulics" forum with a parts list, etc.... That never happened, but I did take a few more pics so I'll just add them here in case some think they might want to go down this same road. Note: This...

LS Dealer vs. NAPA Filer Comparison

Totally blew it on the air filter. I was using the filter part numbers for the Montana equivalent of the S3010. It worked for the all the other ones so I assumed the part number for the air filter was good too -- it wasn't. I had cleaned the original with compressed air and knew what it looked...

LS Tractor Oil, Gas, & Air Filter Information

re: LS Tractor Oil, Gas, & Air Filter Information According to my manual the valves are supposed to adjusted on the S3010 as part of the 50 hour service. Here are the instructions from the service manual if you are a DIYer: I really like the "wrench in the sleeve" 3rd-hand trick on the...

    Wild KAT attachments

Yeah, When it was all said and done (bidding, fees, tax,...) I paid $535.84 at an auction, so $600 is a great deal. Earlier I said I had no complaints about the grapple. While that is still true, one problem I discovered was sticks poking through the back of the grapple. I really like the fact...

    Wild KAT attachments

I have a 48" WildKat grapple and have no complaints. It's made out of 3/8" steel and weighs around 300 lbs. It's so useful for what I do that I just leave it on in place of the bucket. It's not the "heavy-duty" version, but it's way over designed for my use -- I'm not sure I could damage it if I...

LS Dealer vs. NAPA Filer Comparison

I'm FINALLY getting to 50 hours on my S3010 so I began looking for the various filters. I forgot the air filter from the dealer so here are the filters I ended up...

Must have mods or attachments for new LS.

I realize I'm a little late to this thread, but here's a pic of my jazzed up OEM bucket: The dealer added the 2 funky grab hooks on the outside. Then I read on TBN that any hooks you use for heavy work should be at or inside the loader arms to keep from tweaking the arms, so I had a friend...

Had my R4010 three weeks now.

Got these 42" forks at an auction for about $525 after taxes and fees. Not sure what you have in mind to build, but "store bought" might not be a bad option if you are running short of spare time.

    That Parking Brake

Don't know if any of this will help, but here is what it shows in the S3010 manual: And here is a shot I took to show the wiring to my diverter. It kinda shows the design of the parking brake: Good luck if you decide to modify yours.:)

Loader LS3010 Hyd 4 in one bucket?

I believe I finally got the plumbing of the diverter right yesterday. I didn't get to installing the new handle w/switch, but as the curl/dump function is working fine I'm confident it's OK. It took me too long to figure out all the fittings, so I labeled everything for the newbie like me. I can...

New R4020 & Other Goodies (with pics)

It's never even occurred to me that I could set my bucket on the ground like that. Is there any particular reason why you did? My dealer offered to have a couple of grab hooks welded on at the corners of my bucket for free so I said "sure, why not"! Then I saw quite a few postings up in the...

    Are LS Owners "Dealer Bashers"?

I haven't been paying too much attention up in the "Buying/Pricing/Comparisons" forum, but just saw this: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/buying-pricing-comparisons/198109-dealer-bashing-rules.html I'm not sure just what it was that generated this response from the forum admin, but wondered...

    Ball valve vs. Needle Valve

    My Ritchie Bros "haul" pics

Ritchie Bros had their Houston auction last week and I picked up a single cylinder 66" root grapple, a set of forks, a stump bucket, and a SS mount plate (for some future undetermined project) via the timed online auction. Any tips on installing rear remote kit?

I ordered and received my factory rear remote kit last week. (Actually, I asked for a duel rear remote kit, but got a single -- as it was only $200 delivered I suppose I can't complain much. I understand that I may come to regret that decision someday.) I checked and it appears everything is...

    Canopy "dome" lights

These chrome looking plastic LED lights (for boats) look kinda silly, but they work really well. (So well that I got over my hesitation of posting this mod.) Mowing  Did I mess up my cutter?

Bought my 5' cutter back in December. Used it for maybe 1.5 hours before yesterday. It was really hot and I used it for about an hour or so during the hottest part of the day. Noticed oil leaking out of the oil fill plug when I finished. Pulled out the manual and read: "DO NOT overfill...
