Wonder what the cost in downtime is for the mechanical delays? Searched but no metrics found for the commercial daily rate for a laker.

That water must be hovering at 32 degrees to hold ice as in the photos. Guessing everyone is monitoring temperature forecasts pretty closely. What's the window of risk for freezing up and hindering boat traffic? Can it freeze up in a few hours, or is it more likely over a couple of days...

I'm surprised with the wave action that you develop ice this early. I remember big wind blown ice chunks pushed up along the shore line of Lake Ontario, but not frozen over hard ice out on the lake.
