LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

Exactly. Kubota had the B3350 that also sucked, but just that one model.

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

It's hard to believe we are still discussing this topic as if DPF's are somehow a bad idea or unreliable technology. You guys. DPF's have been used on diesel engines since the mid 80's, and were widely adopted globally for trucks somewhere more like 20-25 years ago. The technology is not...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

Again, just my opinion, but at 1600 rpm of just driving around on flat ground carrying firewood, you're not working the engine much, and the exhaust/turbo shouldn't be all that hot to begin with. In such cases I tend to idle for just 10-20 seconds and then shut down, no harm at all in that...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

No way, thats not allowable as a default. When you need to turn the engine off, you need to be able to turn it OFF NOW. Say you had a hydraulic system leak, a coolant leak, oil, etc. Or you pull into your garage with no fresh air. I could probably think of a hundred reasons why I want...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

Lol, "knobs to turn" is a figure of speech meaning "what variables did they have available to adjust". Sorry, engineering speak I guess. Updating the software to "make it run better", resulting in increased temperatures in the exhaust, can really only be done by adjusting the timing and/or...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

Thats good for your DPF regeneration, but what did they change to accomplish this temperature change? The only knobs they would have to turn to affect DPF/exhaust temperatures is from diesel injection and combustion in-cylinder for your engine. Not sure how carefully you track your tractor's...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

Ah, foot throttle. So you perhaps rev the engine up and down a lot? Maybe you've noticed on older diesels or anything without a DPF, that a puff of smoke typically comes out when you rev up. This is the soot that clogs the DPF. Most of us hobby tractor guys on here have smaller hydrostatic...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

How many hours do you have on the machine now? That surprises me, I thought Kubota had things sorted out a little better than that. Do you do a lot of idling, or at least very low load operation? My Kioti is always in the 35-45 hour range between regens, which is not to brag about, but this...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

Good record keeping. Every 10 hours on average is not great at all, but certainly better than every 2 hours.

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

I don't think thats necessarily right. Lower fuel usage DOES mean less net soot production, generally speaking. But specific soot formation is also a function of combustion temperature in cylinder. So light load at high rpms might mean less soot produced per hour of tractor use - but it could...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

^ For sure. It really sucks for anyone stuck with a poorly tuned, constantly regenerating T4 unit and a dealership who's only response is "that's normal". I bought my Kioti CK3510 with 103 hours on it. By 150 hours I was getting pretty fairly nervous about why it hadn't done a detectable...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

I bought my Kioti CK3510 with 103 hours on it. I have 165 now and I have never detected it regen once. I am a mech engineer who dyno tests engines daily, so I'm what you might call hyper sensitive to engine noises and modes. So either mine is doing all passive regens (likely, I keep RPMs up...

LS SAYS A REGEN EVERY 2 HOURS IS NORMAL (Update) 600hrs, 50 regens

You're saying your XR4046 regens every 4 hours? For 32 minutes each time? That's horrible.

^ agreed, good candidate there. Pretty sure it isn't the EGR valve causing extra regens..... oof.
