    I hit the paddle shifter going down hill too. Mine are on each side of the steering wheel, left side is down shift, right up shift. I think. :)

    Loll, no apologies need, but you probably should just stop driving. They are going to keep adding all kinds of stupid stuff to cars that have absolutely nothing to do with driving and that's on top of the driving stuff that's getting added.

    I believe the artificial shifting points were added to CVTs at first because people were freaked out they weren't feeling the shifting on the CVT. I never noticed any artificial shifting on my Crosstrek, but it did on another vehicle we tried out, not a Subaru. I wondered about that on a CVT...
