I assume you're talking about the transaxle oil & filter here? I change a diesel engine's oil filter with every oil change, pretty sure that's normal.

I've been strongly considering adding a BX or JD1 to my set of tools as I've got some places that are inconvenient for my ~5½' wide tractor. I wouldn't've been happy with less of a tractor/smaller tractor, but I do find myself wishing I had something smaller - and my wife wants something better...
