Pisten Bully 400 service and operations

More "less than exciting" photos from a bully shop. First 2 photos is plugging holes in the deck that was created when the goose neck hitch was removed. Plus replace the 50 loose decking rivets. The red thing is a tool box we added. Not a good photo of it!

The last 2 photos shows a blown drive motor hose to be replaced next.

Looks like fun???

These machines are my own little nightmare with all this maintenance:laughing::shocked:

Welcome to the world of snow machines. Just today, I ordered parts for my 6x6 pods with maybe 50 hours on them.. :ashamed:

I'll post more Bully photos when I have something interesting to show.

Really like that big boss. I gotta get a tracked quad one day and just leave the tracks on all year. I want some that don't really need much maintenance though, which sounds impossible!!

Half the reason I ditched my polaris ranger for an atv was because I was sick of changing over the pods.

I assume you'd just drive the podded (tracked) machine on snow? Tracked machines are no fun and impractical on other materials. Even driving them across the yard, stinks. We've not used them in mud, but that sure would be tough on bearings....

I've got much experience with Camso and Soucy pods. I'll not purchase Camso ones again.

Yeah I would just use the machine in the winter, I would use the atv/truck/tractor during the rest of the year. My mattracks pods held up with no maintenance for 3 years and maybe 60-80 hours, but I just hated switching them over all the time and the extra wear it added to the machine. I know you don't like the price on them, and I have to agree!

On Friday we tried to replace this hose and failed to get the old one off using a 18" crescent wrench with cheater. Its metric and the attachment nut seen here is just below 1.5" in size. Now what?

Get your pneumatic hammer out and possibly a 38 mm crows foot with a 30" breaker bar;let that hammer beat on it in the direction of loosening then add in the crows foot and keep that hammer vibration going sometimes even on the wrench.
Also with it being replaced you can use a sharp chisel and actually cut the nut loose and peel it off.

With that idea, I'll put a metal blade on my saws-all and cut off that darn hose. Then maybe we can get a socket on it. Thanks for the idea!!!

Would a "nut splitter" work on a swivel end fitting?
