    Ford 3400 compression

Good evening. Newbie with a 1974 Ford 3400 3-cyl diesel industrial tractor that won't start. I replaced the battery, fuel filter and fuel. Turns but doesn't catch even with ether. I suspect not enough compression. Front loader and backhoe are dug in, so pull starting is not an option. What...

    Compression Test

Greetings, Thought while I was replacing the Injector Pump on my 2011 Branson 3120 with the (Kukje) Cummins A1700N2 engine I'd do a compression test on the cylinders. Question: does anyone know what that engine came from the factory with, compression numbers wise? Despite having a FSM...

    Low Compression? Ford 4500

Hello, I had a question. I recently was able to get my tractor running again. (thanks for all the help) But I am still having a very hard time starting it. I thought the compression was good but. I did another compression test, and the readings are low from what I can tell. I bought the service...

    Low compression on 535

This is the tractor from this thread. Another backhoe model number decode request I checked the compression on it, and it's not good. 150/150/210. So that's why it won't start  His story is that it started to overheat and bubble over, then he drove it to its parking spot, where it...

Blow by and compression test results

Hi all, I have a 1965 Massey 35 with a petrol (gas) engine with some blow by. Being in Australia, the engine is a Standard 87mm, which I believe is different to the Continental that North American 35's have. It's a low compression motor, being 6.0:1. The tractor came to me very uncared for and...

    Engine Compression

Having trouble starting a Yanmar 240D. Used it and parked it. Now getting lots of white smoke but doesn't even make a pop even with a block heater making it warm. Last try I decided to adjust the valves and I was able to put a 8" wrench on one of the front pulley nuts and turn the crank fairly...

    Compression?

I broke down and bought a compression tester for my s370 w ke70 diesel. I. Getting 300 on front cyl and 280 on rear. Thats cold, tractor wont start below 60 deg even with heater. I've read diesels need at least 350 to start but was told 350 was good for a new moter at 6500 ft. Whats what?
