I used to work for Johnny Sides. That spreader is something I am intimately familiar with.

From the point of view of a customer, Sides is a fantastic company.

From a product standpoint, you will NOT find a better spreader. Period. Selling them to people was almost an afterthought. Sides does commercial grass seeding and the whole thing began with trying to get a seeder that would live up to the demand they have for their own operations. The bottom line is that you are looking at the absolute Cadillac of spreaders. It will not wear out on you. It will not break. It will not disappoint you on performance.

I can not recommend this spreader heavily enough... Expect the price to match the fact that these are the nicest spreaders available.

I appreciate the feedback. It’s great to hear that kind of endorsement of a product by someone who has worked with it and with the maker.
Every purchase decision we have made for the farm has been a combination of cost, usefulness, value, time, durability, and repair time and cost. Trying to balance want vs need.
Knowing that we cant afford to make too many buying mistakes. My implements are a mix of old worn down stuff, and new stuff. This is the most expensive implement I have purchased for the tractor, but i view this as a force multiplier. Spending that much was a hard pill to swallow but because I had spent so much time looking at spreaders in person and researching on line I took the chance and so far it is impressing me. I have 900 lbs of grass seed to spread when it gets cooler so i am looking forward to having more chances to work this thing.
