I just replaced a bearing in the pto and put it back together then used it for 3 hrs mowing. It started making a whining/growling noise when I pressed in the clutch. It got worse as I used it. So I took it apart again. everything looks good. I hate to put it back together without finding the problem. Any ideas?

posibly the pilot bearing is starting to go i had would make noise a while back, if you have it split, try spinning the pilot bearing, look for signs of rust, also make shure the pilot bearing is installed in the flywheel not the crankshaft. also release bearing posibly

thats what it was. I just assumed the pilot bearing went in the crank not the flywheel. thats a little unusual. thanks for your help. You saved me from committing ins fraud and my tractor from a firey death.

Would this solution be the reason my s370 beaver satoh does exactly the same thing? Thanks
