04\' 3430 or 05\' 3130?

I happened to stop in at the Kubota dealer down by my land today. To find our about the lag time on ordering a 3130. I jokingly said if he had a 3830 on the lot for a screaming deal and that I would take it. He laughed and said no but that he did have a 3430 HST that is an 04' he bought before the price increase, and that he would 'give it' to me for the same price as a 3130 that will be delivered in a few weeks.

He said no one wants the 3430 because either they go 3130 or 3830, and that the 3430 was just the oddball size.

As far as I know there are no changes between the 04 and 05, or are there? I think that for the same price I might as well get the 3 extra horsepower.

I will be using a brush hog alot on 20 acres, maintaining a 1100 foot gravel driveway, putting in a bunch of fence posts, tilling up a large garden, planting a bunch of trees, and what ever else comes along.

I know my western Washington price is no where near that of Texas and some others, but here is the price. (and no buying in Oregon is out, I work for the government and if I skipped out on paying sales tax I could easily lose my job.)

04' 3430 HST or 05' 3130 HST same price
723 skid steer quick release bucket
R4's loaded
Bolt on cutting edge

for $19,900

This is the soon to be local dealer, and the one I like best. they also give a 10% discount on any implements or accessories. That 10% is off their price not the MSRP price

Is the anything else that I need to add to the tractor?

If TX wasn't so far away I could save another $1000+.

thanks steve

Re: 04\' 3430 or 05\' 3130?

There is no difference in years. The difference in the 3430 and 3130 is pretty much the price. It's the same engine with just a tiny bit more umph, very tiny. For the price difference, that little bit seems hardly worth it. If you can get them for the same price, no question, the L3430. Where the L3430 can be an advantage is if you need a cab. It's available in that configuration.

I was looking at the specs the other day. They seem pretty close. I bet they are the same machine with the HP turned up a bit in the 3430. For the same price, I would go with the 3430.

Get the 3430 and don't look back. Like Rat said, there is no difference between an 04 and 05.. They really don't have model years anyway.

Re: 04\' 3430 or 05\' 3130?

My dealer prefers the 3430 over the 3130. He claims the 3130 is under powered. I have never checked it out. But if I could get a new 3430 for the same price as a 3130. The 3430 would be in the barn. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, at least. But you aren't and if that's the same price as an '05 3130, I think the '04 3430 is the better buy. Unless the paint is faded, or it's rusty (if that bothers you)

Have fun!

Re: 04\' 3430 or 05\' 3130?

Does that price include tax? That's about what I was quoted for a 3130 723 72" bucket, quick attach and a rear blade. Doesn't seem bad if it's with tax. (6% here)

Re: 04\' 3430 or 05\' 3130?

Your price seems reasonable. As the others have said I would gladly take the L3430 over the 3130 for the same price. There have been no changes in this series for 2005.

Re: 04\' 3430 or 05\' 3130?

Went down today, and bought the 3430, he knocked a few hundred more off and they will reinforce the bucket top lip and weld on 3 or 4 (I can't remember) HD hooks, and repaint those Kubota orange.

It will also have the 4 position valve on the loader.

Due to work schedule, and our land and dealer being an hour and a half away. I will probably have it delivered to the land and be educated on how to use it around the 30th. What a long wait.

I guess I can take solace in knowing that I had to pay more in my region than some of you but hey at least electricty is cheap here.

thanks for all the help with my stupid questions over the past year or so.

Soon hopefully I'll have some first hand input about tractors, and be able to help others.

BTW it was built in Nov. 04

Re: 04\' 3430 or 05\' 3130?

Even a regional service manager from Kubota told me that tractors do not have an year model designation like cars do. He also told me the in-service date would be considered the year model.

Since you are buying it in 05 it is considered an 05 model, even by Kubota, 05 and the Kubota records will back you up on it.

Now comes the hard part, waiting until you actually get it.
