neighbor has a 05 dodge caravan ( grand caravan? ) with power drivers seat, manual passanger seat. she was teaching her kid to drive and ran the front of the power seat up.. as far up as it would go ( has front and rear elevation control as far as I can tell ).. anyway.. now the seat won't go down in the front.. you can hear motor running.. and it will run as long as you hold the button either up or down.. never hits a 'stop' rere elevation, and for/aft motors do their thing. She asked me about it.. I havn't had a chance to peak under the seat.. but when I do I'd like to be armed with some info.. anyone a dodge tech here :) or an owner of a similar model that had this problem.. or an idea of what it is? do these use a worm drive or track.. or what? IE.. could it be a gear slipping on a shaft.. or a track with teeth missing.. or? or?

thanks

Have they tried someone with a little more "ballast" in their rear end to see if a bit more weight might force it to settle back into operating? After that I think it is a worm drive on a toothed track from some of the other seats I have seen.

Soundguy, do all your friends and neighbors come to you when something breaks? LOL. Did you ever get your friend staightened out with the blower moter resistor in the durango?

I like the "ballasted" rear end idea, and would definetly try that. Whatever ran out to far might just pop back into place and catch.

yep. the resistor / blow motor worked out. it was in the darn hard to reach spot that everyone mentioned.. and we found it, replaced it, and it now works.

And yes, most of my friends and neighbors come over to borrow a tool ( use while I'm present :) ).. or to get something cut, welded or drilled.

I guess I'm the dark sheep of the community.. It's a slightly upscale equine community.. and I'm the guy with tons of tractors and a red-neck machine shop in his barn.. I do know a neighbor or two talks about me.. yet when someone needs somehting, they walk over. i like it when one of the snobby neighbors will walk over and ask for a 'grease gun-thingy' to grease the swivel point on their electric privacy gate... ( no joke! )

I also think it's funny every spring to see them all drag out their rider lawnmowers and fight with them for 2-3 days trying to get them running after setting up all winter with no fuel stabilizer :) Mine starts right up. I also see mobile service trucks show up to sharpen blades or change oil in their mowers.. or pick them up for service.. I 'pick' mine up with a loader and service my own.. :)

as for the weight on the seat.. i guess that will have to be me.. the neighbor lady is about 4' tall and don't weigh a whole lot more than a bag of horse feed...

Well you see Soundguy you are the type of neighbor that I like to have. I don't try to impress anyone. I don't loan out my tools or toys anymore after a few lessons. I will go operate them for the neighbors. Like you they tend to come over my way for help once in a while.
I like the term your neighbor doesn't weigh much more than a bag of horse feed.

Yep.. I don't loan tools.. even to friends. I'll be gald to show up to a friends house with a truck fuul of tools and work though.. same with the tractor.. I only loan the tractor out with operator (me ). I also don't mind a neighbor walking over holding a doohickey that needs to have a tool waved over it.

horse feed bag.. that's my standard unit of measure anymore. Anything over about 20# gets evaluated as HFBU's or 'horse feed bag units' Each unit is 50# My neighbor weighs about 1.8 or so HFBU :)
