HELP!!!...................I need to know which is the #1 cylinder on an 70's Satoh S650G Bison (not sure about these older Mazda engines). Is it up front next to the cooling fan or on the back next to the gas tank. I have tried and tried re-stabbing the dist, but with no luck getting it to fire...........ANYONE?

Almost always the #1 cylinder is the one nearest the radiator. If it's a gasser remember for a four stroke engine the #1 cylinder must be on the compression stroke to time the distributor.

Ive never worked on a Mazda tractor motor before, (I have rebuilt several American auto engine's with no issues), and I was not sure how them old Japanese gas 4 bangers were set up. Anythings possible anymore. I have #1 set on compression stroke, their set to fire at 16 BTDC, I'm just hoping my timing chain hasn't jumped a tooth, because they do NOT make the timing chains or cover gasket anymore...Thanks for the help Jerry.....;-)
