10' rotary cutter on wheat stubble

hello all,

as the title says i am looking for a 10' cutter to mainly use for wheat stubble, slightly hilly ground. I have a john deere with 45 PTO HP. is that enough tractor to cut dead wheat stubble? can anyone recommend a mower that will work, the JD MX10 pull behind looks good, also looking at Woods pull behind.

The MX10 calls for a minimum of 40 pto hp for a pull type or semi-mount. If all you are going to do is cut wheat stubble IMO you will be OK.

that is kind of what i was thinking.
anyone have experience with Woods brand mowers? pull type like the 10' (DS10.4) or the 12' (BW12). both say min PTO HP under 45

I've been running the MDS10.40 all summer on my Kioti and like it. This is my third Woods mower in as many years; BB60X-BB740X-MDS10.40.

I have a old JD 4020, and a ten foot mower, and it can work that tractor fairly good if it is heavy, but if it is heavy, one does not need to take a 10 foot swath,

thank you for all the responses. i am thinking go 10' or so and if it bogs down too much, cut 9' not 10'. I feel with dry wheat stubble there will not be too much of an issue but thanks for the help!

If the blades are turning you should be able to cut dry wheat stubble pretty easy. Can not think of anything easier to cut. Canadian thistles had my 64 hp tractor working pretty hard. It was a 10ft. Bush Hog rated to cut 2.5 inch saplings. Some of the 9 ft. thistles may have had a 2 inch base.
