What's the ballpark cost of LoJack? Do you have to pay a monthly fee?

I believe for autos, it's a one time cost between $800 and $1000 to install the equipment, but may be less for tractors and other equipment sticker priced much lower than your typical $50K+ luxury ride. There is no monthly cost, as the service is only becomes active once the unit is reported as stolen to law enforcement.

With Qualcom, it is different. It monitors the location of the vehicle like a GPS, with a built in "ping" to locate it every 4 hours, which can be adjusted. If they want to continueously monitor, that can be done also, but requires Qualcom to be brought into the conversations, especially for exact locations like a police deptment would require.
Lo-Jack for tractors would be a better deal.

Last month the police were searching for a stolen car with LoJack in my neighborhood. They brought in a helicopter and several black and whites. I was talking to one of them. He said he didn''t know why people still used LoJack as it is out dated. He mentioned how much easier their job is with GPS tracking.

For individual tractors wouldn't it just be easier to install a kill switch in a hidden location? Make things hard enough and the criminals will just leave. Most tractors are usually stolen one at a time and unloaded cheap elsewhere. The theives are not going to risk being caught by hanging out at the site trying to figure out how to start the tractor.

I am sure a kill switch (or even a kill switch for the kill switch so if they find one they will have to find the other:D ) will be a lot cheaper then any gps based security system.

Equipment dealerships are hard to secure. The township police dept is our neighbors, and we still get hit regularly.

It's probably the COPS!!
