100 Hr maintenance, piece O\' cake...

Nice autumn evening, HS game of the week playing on the tube and everything I needed was on hand so I decided to do the 100hr and knocked it out in a couple easy enjoyable hrs /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I decided to stay with Kubota branded parts and the oil filter, 1 Gal of 10W30 and air filter ran about $28.00.
I went through a tube of grease but don't recall the price, perhaps $3 or $4.

Everything looked good. The BX didn't use any hydro fluid nor oil since the 50hr. The fan belt was tight, coolent level was good and everything was tight thats' supposed to be. I decided to R&R the oil filter with the engine cowling on and it wasn't a problem at all.

Since I had the MMM off I cleaned it up too and it was surprisingly free of clippings etc on the under side. Must be due to the suction of the cyclone rake. The blades looked good so I'll leave resharpening 'em to the cold days of winter.

All in all it went great without a hitch and it's ready assist me in tearing down the deck and pool in the AM.

What a difference 100hrs makes on the air filter.

I never did see the object in taking the engine cowling off to replace the filter.
Still don't understand why people do that?????

Me neither. Changing the filter with the cowling on is quite simple. Nothing is in the way.

I used my universal oil filter wrench, a large pr of Craftsman channel locks. They've yet to meet an oil filter they couldn't remove /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ...

I removed the cowling when I did the 50hr service for a couple of reasons. To get familiar with the tractor, to look for any leaks and/or anything loose and to clean out the compartment, especially the lower radiator that wasn't accessable with the cowling on.
I like to get to know all my machinery upclose and personal /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
