1000# fel

what would be the smallest machine i could eqpt with a fel / mmm /and bushog that would still be able to move a 5x5 bale of hay. sometimes theyre close to 1k. the bx2200 wont do it.
i almost cant get much bigger than the bucket on the bx tho cuz i use it to laod 55 gallon drums of feed into peoples trucks. it fits into the inside of the truck bed w/enuff room so far i havent hit anyones bed. 2 barrels wiegh about 700# and it will just git it done
im thinkin i mihgt try to trade my jd 2010 im trying to sell and the bx and see what happens..

how much is my bx w/fel and 60in deck worth...got 500 hrs or so..

You can put a tiny bucket on a bigger loader easier than a big bucket on a tiny loader,,, KennyV
Ps... good luck finding a good used small mid sized tractor, everyone tends to hang on to them ..

I dont think anyone makes a tractor that will lift a 1000lb bale and also have a MMM. 1000lbs may not be a problem, but a center 2-3ft in front of the bucket is. I have a l3400 and it wont do it. I think the smallest kubota that will fit that bill is either a grand L with the LA7something loader and not the LA514, or the L4400. But if you plan on doing this quiet frequently, I would want to go even bigger.

And as already mentioned, you can have a smaller bucket made for the other jobs. Either that or keep what you got and get some old iron in the 50-60HP range with a loader. Use it specifically for the bales.

A 5x5 bale of dry hay will weigh in much closer to 1200 lb or more if it has any density to it at all.

You need something with a track width equal to or greater than the 5' bale and a weight at or near 5000-6000 lbs to handle those bales safely.

Are you just planning on moving them close to the ground or are you going to be lifting them onto a trailer or truck? If it's low to the ground a smaller tractor would due but once you start lifting to load you'll wanted extra weight to handle them. I would also think about getting the quick attach and a bale spear. Moving the weight closer to the tractor will increase lifting and make it safer to handle.

My L2800 will not lift a round bale with the FEL. I move them with a spike on the 3 point I can't put them on a trailer or truck.

My Grand L4200 will pick a big bale up and stack it... BUT you are right, I would not want to do a lot of that type work with this marginal sized tractor...
I have never been comfortable working anything right up to it's maximum limitation.... KennyV
