Ballast 101 LBS Wheel Weights

Hi , I'm trying to find weight for the rear of my TC21D. I've talked rear blade, and filling the wheels, but did anyone ever get a price on Weights for the rear wheels? I think this would be a great option for me, due to my needs. I'm told by the manual that 101 LBS weights go on each rear wheel. If anyone has info on the price or even has a better option, please let me know. Thanks to all the kind people on here. Kent

I contacted a dealer today about weights. They are $70 each + shipping costs, and tax. He told me to just put washer fluid in each wheel. He said you can get more weight in the wheels that way. 8lbs per gallon and he said 15 to 20 gallons per wheel. Does this sound like a reasonable thing to do? I've read some about that on here before. Thanks guys Kent

I was just wondering if the dealer told you what the shipping cost was. Seems that when I was looking for weights, the shipping cost almost as the weights did. Someone on TBN (and I would like to thank them for the idea) posted photos of their rear weights. 1/4" steel plate cut desired circle, welded 1" rebar in the center, bought cheap lifting weight plates from Wal-Mart. I am sure that someone on here knows where the post is. I also have my tires filled with washer fluid.

Yep, that's the one. I built a set for my Long tractor. Was looking for 50# plates and couldn't find them in my area. Nope, not even at Wally World (wal-mart). Now they are on my Kioti. Since the tires are filled I settled for 25# plates. Had to grind the bolts off and drilled holes for new ones. This time I used carriage bolts. Worked just fine. I have 4 plates on each wheel so with the fluid+plates I added 300# to each wheel. The 25# plates are $10ea. Thanks again for your post. Sure save me big bucks.

/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif In my earlier post I said that Andy used rebar to put his weights on,,, duhhhh,, old brain is about shot I guess. He actually used 1" threaded rod... sorry about that. While I was searching around the new construction site at work for useable items. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif I saw lots of 1" rebar. I guess that was where my mind was. I didn't find any 1" all thread so I used 3/4" black pipe. 6" threaded on one end. Used a pipe cap to keep the weight plates from moving around. With all of my guess work while having a friend weld things together for me at work. The pipe was about 1/2" too long for a tight fit. I made a spacer out of 1" pvc. Fit perfect. Once all was painted it looks pretty good. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif . The best part is the price. $80 for 200# of weights, all else was free. Trying to scrounge material for a set of forks now. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
