1025R - need auxiilary overheat warning, does anyone have ideas for sensors?

Jaotguy- your solution seems like elegant overkill (to me anyway, mind you- although I like it non the less) to his problem. I would be concerned about all the additional circuitry's potential to create a problem down the road. A simple, mechanical temp. gauge is unlikely to do that, and should be fairly easy to screw in somewhere? His tractor will have a temp. sensor for the idiot light, and that's where I would start looking for a way to plumb in the new gauge's probe or sending unit.

No question, just a statement. Sounded like what you were going for, but wanting to make sure everybody was on the right track.

On many tractors the PTO is manual, so this wouldn't work. Sounds like yours is electric which makes it easy to kill the PTO & keep the engine running to cool itself with no load.
